AC condensation drain hose (most don't extend that far past the bottom cover plate).

Mine use to hang that far down too so I cut it shorter and now it looks a lot cleaner.

Doesn't it connect to a slight relief-indent in your seat? ;)

6 years after posting this i have a follow up. why would this be leaking fluid if the AC was never on?

It shouldn't Steve, like Steve M. Said, it's for AC condensation drain hose.
Is there something coming out of yours with the AC off?

it kinda seems so. saw a.large spot of moisture under the front and it lines up perfectly with the hose.

There are a bunch of coolant hoses above that cover plate that the a/c hose passes through. If one of them is leaking, it may drain through that hole in the middle of the cover plate.

Either that or Australian mouse pee.

I distinctly remember seeing that tube on the 308 on Magnum and in magazines when I was a kid and wondering what it was. What IS that thing?!

I guess it is possible for condensation to occur inside any semi-closed volume if the ambient conditions change in a certain way (i.e., fills up slowly with warm, moist air and then cooled quickly), but I'd be betting on Brian A's thought until shown otherwise. Are you running antifreeze+water or just water as the engine coolant? -- that is, can you tell the two fluids apart, and are you sure what the fluid is?

OUCH! The a/c hose on my car was so short I couldn't get it in the hole and had to put on a rubber extension.

i run 50/50 but it's soaked in to the concrete so I couldn't examine. I'll just see what's what the next time i run it.

Not sure that you'd even need to run it as leaks at the coolant hose junctions often happen when cold at zero pressure (when the rubber of the hose is contracted and hard), but seal themselves up when warm and at pressure (with the rubber of the hose soft and expanded). The usual test is to pressurize the system when cold -- and, IME, then a whole bunch of places that never leaked before start leaking ;). Please do let us know what you find once you get the fluid identified -- Good Hunting!

Don't touch it! You have a very rare transgender 308. Your car FEELS like it is of the female perversion and at some time subjected itself to gender reassignment surgery. Most homophobic Ferrari owners and concours judges consider this be an psychotic aberration, and it is now your job to gently explain to them how your car is expressing it's gender identity and to comment otherwise is hateful and judgmental.
