I had heard that the only revenue the venue owner/promoter (track owners or country) got was the gate and concessions. If no one is coming to the race and they are not making money off concessions, why would they continue to hold the race and lose money like Australia has over the last few years. If it becomes impossible for the venue holder to at least break even, it should limit the amount of venues that will want to hold a race for anything other than political reasons and even those will be subject to scrutiny similar to what Australia has been going through (except for countries that don’t have to answer to their residents for losing money).

And that makes me unhappy! - JMB was worse than Mad Max in his day. IIRC, he did eventually go nuts although some would say he was crazy before he got the FIA gig......

As for JT, it appears he has indeed been beavering away - Enough that MM has resurfaced, which has gotta be bad - "JT wants all the power" seems a little rich coming from him. But I do worry about who he still has in his pocket - He's (possibly?) capable of pulling off a coup and coming back as "the savior!"

Come on JT - Step it up!

    Cheers,
    Ian

While not with the regularity of that proverbial stopped clock, JMB was right on occasion.

Some organisers don't mind to loose money organising GPs; they have the financial backing of their government and never expected to break-even.

I suspect that's the case for China, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and probably Turkey.
Formula One is almost unique: it provides global exposure and is a terrific showcase for them to 'advertise' their country. Call it a PR exercise.

European circuits owners are competing financially against foreign governments; there is no way they can win. They try to balance the books, whilst Far East countries throw money to Bernie have access to the jet-set and buy prestige...
