The vin must be wrong here. It is offered as 330GT5763. A low milage car. Fluid exchange, break, suspension and carb rebuild adviseable probably. But I bet you could drive it with just a bit of work. I'm not a fan of that bumper.
no kidding...hilariously vague in fact... does it even run ? a whole bunch of things jump out at a glance, but nothing that wouldn't make it a steal if it has compression and shifts... but if it doesn't then you could end up into it for $50K or more really, really fast... which is still no big deal whatsoever, just as long as you understand what you're getting into. i love the colour combo and have dreamed about having the time to repaint mine just like it... i hope somebody here bought it and that it proves to be a decent starting point toward becoming a good car.
That's actually correct for a five digit VIN, in a lot of States, (the format, the model number is wrong obviously). Texas would be happy if mine were stamped "308GTB22127" but there's not a mark like that on the whole car! Sometimes Handbooks are just "wrong"......
ya, that's true...and it throws up a red flag, so, since i'm negotiating for the car now, i've brought Dick Merritt into the loop. i contacted the seller because i had i gut feeling that the Ebay deal just wasn't for real... i'm pretty sure it's both.... i hope all is well Art. i love the colour combo and i think i'll end up buying it...does anybody want to work with me on this ? we'll run it through the 'program' here and make a good car out of it.
OK I'll bite. I was thinking of sniping it. I have a hard time justifying it. I've been making very good use of the 456 but the 550 gets neglected. But I think I've hit my bottom and ready to go up again. That plus I just like the cut of that car. Plus it sounds just about like a Daytona and that's not a bad thing. PM on da way.
yes, the Ebay deal didn't close...so i followed up on it and my 'gut' was right. i've had lots of seat time in both 550's and 456's lately and with all due respect to those fine machines, you're in for something really special with a 365 GT4 2+2. so...fantastic, congratulations...lets do it ! brett, 705-435-1990
Any day you buy a Ferrari is a great day! I confess to getting excited about it. When it stops being exciting I'll stop buying them. Thanks for your help.
Thanks Tex. We'll get the right serial# and some pics up when able. Brett tells me there is a good bit of documentation with the car. I think it will be a good one.
The serial number was reported by Boyd in post #7 as 18775. That's what Brett said today. I think there might be a story. A lot of Ferraris have history. It will be interesting to see. And of course I'll share.
I asked the following from the ebay lister: Hi, I have owned one of these cars before (VIN 17291) and looking to get back into one. Can you please send the correct VIN number or a pic of the serial plate from the right side of the engine bay? thank you Boyd And the answer I got was: chassis number is 18775 that's all I got for ya.
I have a call in to the sellers. First guess is my hope. It's really a '75. Production ended in '76. Second guess, not so good. 16775 became 18775. I don't favor this as I won't be a part to a transaction in which there is not full disclosure. Not to mention the possibility of participating in the sale of stolen goods or becoming an accessory after the fact. Call into counsel also. I sure hope this works out. I want the car.
