So yesterday my manager says bananas are bad for you because they're high in calories.

I said how do you figure? She said well their fine for you because you work out, but for people that don't and the obese they're bad for you.

    Again,

You know what? Life is bad for you. As far as I'm concerned, enjoy everything in moderation. If you eat 500 bananas a day, in 20 years, you might have a problem. But, other primates seem to do okay on them.

And, let's not forget that red meat was good for us. Then it was bad for us. Now it's good for us, again. A little steak won't put the nail in the coffin, my good man. Although, slipping on a banana peel could.

I've heard the bad banana argument before. Apparently, it's not uncommon for people to believe that the soft texture means bananas are high in fat.

    durrrrrrhhhhhh.........

The NUMBER ONE cause of death is having been alive. And I predict that within
150 years, every single human with ZERO exceptions who is alive today will be
DEAD. Whether they ate bananas or not.

I adhere religiously to a diet consisting of a balanced intake of the 4 food groups ----

    Nicotine
    Caffeine
    Alcohol
Whatever someone ELSE cooks for me

......but, then again, I am French :)

LOL, I believe they are around 60 calories.

Oranges are bad for you too. I was watching a TV show about some of the fattest people in the US. They showed one guy getting a recommendation that he eat something that is good for him that he likes... well, he likes oranges. The following month, he weighed 3 lbs more. Why? He followed the doc's recommendation...

He was eating 40-50 Oranges per sitting!

Bananas are delicious! I'd take them over processed foods any day, even if they aren't exactly on the low end of the glycemic index.

there's are some things that are bad for you.

There's wearing white after labor day and getting teased

Then there's invading Stalingrad in winter

Eating bananas is nowhere on that list of badness.

I love bananas as they suppress my appetite very fast and are not THAT high on calories. And it's high in Potassium and Iron.

They do at the Philadelphia Union Club. Their dress code strictly bars you from wearing white after labor day. Nor are casual dresses permitted, except between the months of May and August. Old habit die hard in those stodgy places.

Some doctors and scientists predict that at the rate we are currently advancing in technology and medicine, some people alive today could live on indefinitely. I don't know about that, but 150 years old sounds like something plausible :)

Ok fine. The Earth is 5 BILLION years old... so I'll rephrase, to allow for all possible
    medical advancements:

"within 250 years from today, every single man, woman and child alive on earth today
    will be dead - 100%"

    :)

at the limitations of cellular and organismal aging, the upper limit of our lifespan still appears to be around 100, give or take 10-20 years. While some genetic modifications and selective breeding has doubled, or even tripled life span in worms and flies, there hasn't been any magic bullet for humans as of yet.
