pah land a 747. That is childs play. I can land 10 747s simultaneously, and have 5 a380s land right behind them and have the 10 747s powersliding around them.

If you'd like to speak by phone, we can certainly arrange that. Let me know. If you'd like me to meet Rob (forum owner) at his hangar or my hangar, we can arrange that--just let me know.

As far as me getting Cannon's pilot's license wrong, sorry, but I did not. Or, to put it another way, if I got it wrong then so did the Regional FSDO in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as the Airman's Medical division in OKC.

Cannon's dad is listed as a Student Pilot with a non-current medical.

If Benjamin Philip Cannon, birthdate of 9 October 1980 (same birthdate he lists on his business biographies and other internet profiles) of Sonoma County California has an FAA issued certificate or type rating, there are a lot of folks, including the FAA themselves, that would like to know about it.

It's public information. If you found it, then you have it and are free to post. After all, it wouldn't be telling anyone anything that Ben himself hasn't already told, right?

There are literally thousands of people at the moment from various walks of life ranging from guns to airplanes to guitars to computer server companies to Defense Department contractors and employees, charities, political organizations and more that would love to hear Ben Cannon's response to the facts laid out against him.

It's only one-sided when the other side runs from the light of exposure.

If the record I found was his dad, then I'm the one that's wrong. However, I cross-checked against 2 other indicia before believing I had the correct person and record.

Regardless you're not getting it; you seem to be on here only to be vindictive. In fact you say so:

    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showpost.php?p=1041424&postcount=3668

We sympathize with the hardship apparently being caused to early users of GPAL and, if there is underlying criminal intent, would want to see the perpetrators caught and punished. At which time we might have a "did you see what happened?" thread. But charges of failing to respond made on this forum are sort of moot, because Ben Cannon hasn't been here for 5 months, the posts you're referring to go back 2-5 years, and they have nothing to do with GPAL. Basically, you're crapping on our lawn because of a past tenant. Maybe he'll come back, maybe he'll post something, then different story; but in the meantime he's been active much more recently on other forums (L4P or gun boards).

You're welcome to stay and enjoy the car talk. You seem to have multiple airplanes, so you can certainly afford an older Ferrari if that's truly an interest of yours and not just buttering us up. We also have an aviator's forum you might enjoy. But no more posts by you about Ben Cannon.

I've actually never looked at Ferrari before so far as purchasing. Always assumed any model you looked at would start in the low six-figures--which buys a lot of avgas.

Did a search on DuPont and found a number of 308 models and 328 models that were priced extremely reasonable. To me, that model has always epitomized the allure and exoticness of a Ferrari.

However, would have to do a lot of research prior because as with many things mechanical, the purchase price is the easiest thing to come up. I'm religious when it comes to preventive maintenance, upkeep, care, insurance, etc. All of those costs have to be factored in as well.

The wife wants a bigger airplane, so we're looking at a (Cessna) T210N for the cross-country cruiser. That probably comes first in order to keep the harmony around here.

As far as the airman's certificate goes, it would be interesting to see what you found. We researched upwards, downwards and sideways at the regional FSDO, with their personnel's help, and only found the dad--not the son (with matching info required on the issued certificate). Likewise for the medical (Third or Second or First Class) search (and dad's medical has long since expired).

I, and many others feel a bit vindictive over the huge headaches the subject-in-question's actions and schemes has caused, particularly in California where an important special interest group's credibility has been called in question due to the relationships involved.

And for the record, in regards to "thousands," it is true. The subject-in-question himself boasted in two different press releases that Gpal had first topped 20,000 new enrollees, then 30,000. Not all lost money, probably not even half or a fourth. But between California BBB complaints, State Attorney General complaints, federal complaints and the Sonoma County investigators' complaints, the number is estimated to easily be over a thousand.

There is a large "lynch mob" pursing the SIQ and they are from almost every state in the lower 48. They are finding him on investment boards, financial advice boards, credit-rating discussion boards, luxury toys boards, gun boards, entrepreneur boards, etc. A lot of good people were harmed when they lost money because of him. The amounts lost range from as little as $50 to over $25,000. A $25,000 hit to a small mom/pop business can be devastating. And to some, it has been.

My purpose, was to both let the SIQ know that his BS has finally caught up with him, and more importantly, to let longtime members on forums such as this know that everything is not as it appears.

You could say the same about me, but my offer of a phone conversation and/or to meet Rob at his hangar or mine still stands. I have absolutely nothing to hide and nothing to regret or fear due to what I've posted here. All of it is verifiable--and most of it is a matter now of public record via the various investigations that are ongoing and that will be for several years forward.

No delicate way to say this, so I'm just going to say it. There is no shortage of disposable income with the majority of members of this forum. While I in all likelihood have nowhere the accumulated wealth that most here do, I am comfortable and get by. As such, I tend to be a bit more trusting than I should be and have been scammed for it on a previous occasion, but not by the SIQ.

I'm well familar with caveat emptor, but at the same time, it only takes a few folks to fall for the snake-oil pitch that the con men in our society toss at us that allows them to continue facilitating their wares.

So just please be aware of the SIQ's fabricated background and persona. I feel, per the polite and honest question/answer and exchange of information here, that all the attention needed has been brought forth, therefore, no need for me to dwell, publicly, on it any further.

    With that said. . .

In the meantime, I will continue to browse through the site and do some homework. There are some fantastic, incredible cars here, and I do like combustible engines that move masses of carbon and fiberglass and aluminum forward!

I know a guy who is an instrument rated private pilot. He was lucky enough to be able to fly a 747 simulator at one of the airlines his friend flew for. He was able to land it.

Me, dunno.....haven't flown in years and never even finished my private. Everyone better hold on tight!

Inexplicably, I was able to land a 747 via the simulator, but was hard enough on a 737 (simulator) as to collapse the gear and make things REAL interesting if it had been for real.

After having successfully "landed" the 747, I believe I was a little over confident with the 737. . . I'll stick to my little single-engines and leave the big-iron to the real pros.

If you can, or are so inclined, finish the ticket up. It' a great accomplishment and provides you the freedom in the air similar to what your sports car(s) provide you on the ground. Just no state troopers with radar guns and speed traps up there to nab you. (grin)

Well, let me see, no pilot's license for me, not in any of your aviation databases, but I think I could land a 747 if I had someone talk me through the parameters of approach speed, landing gear, flap and slat deployment speeds, and thrust reversers. Thrust reversers should be no sweat if I can try them while airborne because the squat switches would keep them from engaging, I hope. Otherwise a long runway and just use the brakes. A couple of approaches would be nice to practice and then an ILS full stop. Might not be pretty, but I think I could do it without damaging the aircraft or whoever was on board.

Taxiing would not be fun, though, since I only have experience with nose-wheel steering. Could probably get it off the runway taxiing, but would not want to go much further than that. Would be whole lot easier in the daytime than at night.

I landed a 747 on an aircraft carrier once...I mistook it for O'Hare. I got a LOT of dirty looks when I climbed out of the cockpit and dropped down onto the deck.

The FAA pulled my license and the airline fired me on the spot, which is why I am stuck plying my trade as a romance novelist.

Only 371 more books till I get that Veyron I've had my eye on.

Well, I'm gonna be sorry I poked the bear but here goes.

I don't know you, although you are listed as a mod. I've known Rob for many years, and through his judgment, I guess you are upstanding enough. We're here in off-topic, other off-topic, talking about all things non-auto related. You also don't post your name(like me) unless you use 'Yin'(Chinese for literally 'man' or 'male', or something to do with the shady side of a mountain) like Roseanne or Cher just use one name. So, it seems a bit churlish to go after TexasFlyer for not using his name, or me for not using mine while posting about off-topic right in the off-topic section.

Further, I don't see TexasFlyer crapping in our lawn by alerting members with significant disposable income that there may be a ram among the sheep. I see it more as a public service, provided the things he has related check out. So far, they do check out and Ben Cannon has a rather checkered past(I have not done an exhaustive search, only enough to verify TexasFlyer's position).

Finally, we started down this road from a post in this thread regarding aviation which is very much on topic for off-topic area of discussion. Surely it merged from that with further information disclosed about one of our long term members. If Ben Cannon wants to come on here and have his say, I'm ready to listen. Until then, I'm afraid the information from TexasFlyer stands as written.

If anyone wants to see my airman's certificate, they can also meet me at Rob's hanger, at a mutually agreeable date.

TexasFlyer, if you wanna go half on a T210N and are on the left side of DFW metro, drop me a line. I don't have a Bonanza anymore, and I miss turning 100LL into noise and motion.

Sorry, you're off base on both points.

First, my name is quite public. It might require that you think about it for a few seconds; but I'm sure you'll get it.

Second, in so far as any kind of "warning", TexasFlyer got to say most, if not all, that he wanted, and those posts still exist don't they?

Second: I never said you deleted anything. I was posting about your statement " But no more posts by you about Ben Cannon." You're the internet po-po and I am opining that you are being heavy handed and unreasonable.

It's a shame that you have nothing of value to add to the discussion except to wield the hand of administrative sanction. If you've found exculpatory info on Ben Cannon, or have actually found his claimed airman's cert, please share. That would represent some valuable contribution. Failing that, you're just being a bully in a chat room that is specifically setup for this kind of info. Of course it would be inappropriate in the Lambo section, or the 308/328/Mondial section, but I welcome it here. Who knows, maybe it will save one of our brothers money by not dealing with this person in the future.

    Doc,

I didn't take ylshih's statements to me as a warning really, but more as a matter of legitimate concern. After all, I flew in here (pun, you bet it is) and called out a longtime member. I might have had the same questions.

Another moderator asked me who I was, and I offered up who I was, sans a name. But I made a standing offer to ylshih or any other moderator to chat by telephone and meet at Rob's hangar.

For the record, I do not know Rob, but I did see pictures of his new Columbia and I watched the video he posted. Fantastic stuff.

However, I am extremely curious about ylshih saying he found Cannon's airman's certificate information in the database. The FSDO wasn't able to do that and we gave them all information that included DOB and address. As you know, if there is a different address, you are obligated to let the FAA know that within 30 days. If one claims to be a commercial pilot and claims to fly-for-hire, that up-to-date ticket information is even more critical for insurance and liability purposes. OKC's medical desk was even contacted looking for a current medical, and again, no joy.

It's public information, as we've seen, and it would be interesting to see it to determine if it is the same subject-in-question.

Our hangar is at Hicks (T67). I bet we could arrange to convert some 100LL (also STC'd for auto gas) into noise and forward motion in the 172 en route to Stephenville for a little Hard Eight, or up to Cedar Mills to dance in the grass and get a sandwich at the Pelican Landing. The Taylorcraft is absolutely unrecognizable. No fabric and completely disassembled. Engine is in the next door hangar our neighbor bought (duplex hangars), avionics (what few there are on a TC) are being refurbished, etc. We're estimating all of this fall and winter, and early spring getting this thing done.

But boy, will she be FUN to fly when she IS done. Armstrong starter, eyeball horizon indicator, NORAD and real landing gear.

Again, I've taken no offense whatsoever to ylshih. He's just looking out for the forum and I probably looked one-hundred percent like a bad troll with the first few posts.

It'll end up being a good thing, though, 'cause now I'm seeing pictures of incredible cars and surrounded by folks who are walking encyclopedias of knowledge about them.

    Good stuff.

So did I. And it would be legitimate if you were posting in one of the car forums. But we're here in the wild west sub-forum, and short timer or not, he's out of line and he knows it.

Now, talking about getting some air under us, if you had a working T-craft I would be there with bells on! I can actually fly one of those planes with the wheel on the correct end. Did my primary fixed wing in a 7KCAB, and have some time in Luscombes and Pitts S2.

Driving around in a 172 is ok with me if that's what we've got to work with. I could do a little lake buzzing at Cedar Mills. We'll connect this fall somewhere. I need to get a BFR before I can handle the yoke, unless you're a CFI. I'm shopping for something right now, but can't seem to find the right plane. Also looking for a partner somewhere, but pickings are kind of slim around KWEA.

I too would like to see the info Yin has on our subject. I'm betting it's bogus. If the FT Worth FSDO can't find him, that's good enough for me. Drop me a PM with some contact info and I'll visit with you anytime.
