03/360 Spider stick with 10,000 miles on the clock. The last few times I drove around with the top down I noticed a small gas smell in the car. The weird thing is that I can only smell it when I am in 3rd gear or higher and under full acceleration and over 5,500 RPM. The gas smell is there for few seconds and then goes away. After I drove the car I checked for any possible gas leaks in the engine compartment. Everything looks dry and fine. No leak........ Again, you can only smell it with the top down, 3rd gear or higher and under full acceleration and being over 5,500 RPM. With the top up and otherwise no gas smell. Any ideas guys ??? Thank you !!!
There are several threads on this problem, which seems particular to the spider. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100119 It can be fixed, but requires removal of the spider top...
I'm not an expert on the subject, but not from the various threads I have read. I have not seen any exception made for later cars. Doesn't matter, you need a proper diagnosis first, which will require taking to a qualified shop.
