    John,

Take 348 and 355 for example, how will you equalize the 2 chassis? A 355 has aero and 75hp more. Will you allow a 348 to be lighter or have more HP or adjustable shocks or? Very few of these cars are in legal challenge trim anymore. I hope your series spreads to the WestCoast too.

Right now we are very light on 348 registrations for 2011. When we have enough to justify its own class we will add.

We have reached 50 registered cars for the series so far with entries each day. I expect to have a minimum of sixty cars entered for the series with grids of 25 plus cars in each race. It will be amazing.

We are in negotiations for a major tire sponsor for 2011, so stay tuned.

As for the east coast, it's coming. For 2012 I expect there will be an East Coast Division and West Coast Division with a national championship race

I don't speak for John, but I raced with these guys at Sebring this year. This series is a lot of fun. John and the crew (Franco?,Alan Jay, Jeff I) put on a good show. The event was first class. We had lunch everyday and dinner at night with live entertainment.

The atmosphere here is more gentleman's racing then it is SCCA or NASA. The skill levels vary. If you want to be competitive, you can be. If you are just beginning to race; it's very safe.
It's my understanding. If you touch you are out! You have equal machines and the drivers are very good.
It's a place to bring your Ferrari, meet some like minded people, be safe, and have fun.

John keep up the good work.

Here is a video from the Sebring event, mid-pack.

You look good in the corners and under braking. You just need to learn to drive faster on the straights.

Thanks Greg. Although we are entering points this year, the series is very much a gentlemens racing series like what the challenge series was supposed to be in the beginning. There is a strict no touching rule. Everyone that runs is stressed that safety and fun rule over competitiveness. The top drivers are fast ( Steve Earl and Mark McKenzie, who share several championships, are signed up for 2011), but there are others that just want to safely participate in a race with their Ferrari.

    Greg:

You drove a great race, smoked everyone in the 355 class. Next year we have a lot of good 355 drivers son you will have competition. (Rob Lay is coming!). As is my good friend Chris Sacco, who is a very good driver.

I am proud to announce that the 2011 Universal Autosports FCRA Championship has just secured liability insurance in the amount of ten million dollars. This amount of coverage exceeds most national clubs I know of. We secured insurance at list level to demonstrate our level of commitment to run a well organized and safe organization.

I am also pleased to announce that the 2011 Universal Autosports FCRA Championship has today gathered sponsors who will donate over $150,000.00 worth of cash, goods and services to the drivers of the series.

Parts and goods will be given out to the drivers at the start of the series and at key point when needed. Parts on hand are things like brakes and tires for each car, Goods are things like the Valobra Crystal Murano Horses for the win, show, and place of each class and the BRM watches for the Champions.

The series will likely have $100,000.00 cash on hand for the 2011 series ($75,000.00 is on hand now, and we are in negotiations with two other sponsors for pledges of $35,000.00) The Board of directors is considering a CASH payout to drivers at the start of each race weekend. Depending on the size of the grid, a cash payout could be as high as $1,000.00) per driver, and/or can be used to pay for drivers entry fees.

I am proud to announce our lastest sponsor, Ferrarichat! I'm particularly excited with the partnership between the FCRA and Ferrarichat. Having been a member of ferrarichat from it's beginning Ive watched Rob Lay grow this forum from it's grassroots beginnings into the worldwide Ferrari forumn. It's particularly pleasing to have Ferrarichat as a sponsor because Rob Lay will be racing for the 355 championship. Also it is very good to see that all of FCRA sponsors are also Ferrarichats sponsors.

Soon Ferrarichat will have a separate forum that will link to the FCRA site: www.ferrariclubracing.com

I am pleased to announce as of present we have 52 drivers/owners signed up for the series. Thier names are on the website. Numbers have been assigned. Soon everyone will be receiving driver sponsor packages.

To be clear about sponsors: The money, parts, goods and services have been raised (we are at 150K and rising), by the agreement that the FCRA will only award the goods, services and cash to the drivers that display the sponsors logos on assigned sections of the cars. Sponsors are contributing in exchange for certain signage and sections on the cars.
This is similar to the challenge series. If you run the challenge series you run logos in assigned spots. Sponsors pay for certain locations with the best locations being the most expensive. For example, Universal Autosports bought the windscreen location and naming rights for $50,000.00 cash.

The one major difference between the challenge series and this series is that the money goes directly to the drivers.

The second difference is that unlike the Challenge series, we will not require a car to run the logos to run the race. This is not about forcing anyone to do anything. However, if you want the money/services/goods and points its only fair that you run the logos. The sponsor package could be worth 5,000 to 10,000 in cash, parts and services per driver.

I do realize that some companies who are sponsors are also competitors of others companies that drivers support. For example, I am with Ferrari of Central Florida but my car will have a Universal Autosports banner on the windscreen. For some this will be an understandable issue. To those people I would say, that just because we have sponsors doesn't mean we cannot choose to support goods or services of competing companies. I think we can and should applaud companies that have the cash and commitment to help pay for our series and defray the costs. Taking Universal Autosports as an example they are essentially paying all the drivers, (not just thier own), and thus will be paying bills of competitors. I for one think thats cool.

The main sections of the car will be left blank, so that you may advertise your own business (a way in which you should be able to have a tax benefit). Those main sections will be the full hood, and doors.

With the above in mind, we should be sending out sponsorship packages shortly

    John this is exciting news.

Question for you. At Sebring you had the race filmed. Why were they filming it? Also, what happened to the footage?

    Hey John,

Looking at dates for 2011, I now see what Rob was referring to. Sebring is Thurs&Friday, and I'm planning to be there.

But, is the FCRA Georgia race actually June 7&8? That would be Tuesday&Wednesday, which would be more difficult.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I am pleased to announce that the FCRA has contracted with Hoosier to be the official tire supplier for 2011, in exchange for a $50,000.00 cash commitment from Hoosier.

After discussions with several members the FCRA will become a spec hoosie tire series. Hoosier has just announced a new race tire for the 430 Challenge, and supplies race tires for the 348C, 355C, 360C, and 430C.

To be able to earn points a competitor in the series must run Hoosier tires. The tires will be distributed in varies ways, including tire supplier Bob Woodman.

The great news is that the Hoosier tires are about $400.00 a set cheaper then the pirellis. This was a major factor in choosing this tire. Also in exchange for the FCRA's commitment to be a spec tire series, Hoosier has pledged $10,000.00 per weekend ($5,000.00 per race), to the series for each full grid race ( a full grid constitutes 20 cars, a grid we will easily exceed). The FCRA has 5 squeduled two day events (with a race each day).

This is a $50,000.00 cash contribution to the series, cash which will be distributed to the drivers. Hoosier tire will also have race support tire development staff at the races for driver feedback and tire development.

This agreement between the FCRA and Hoosier will dramatically reduce the running costs of FCRA members

To date the FCRA series has cash and product sponsorship of over $200,000.00, and this figure is growing.

John, I'm very happy to hear about the Hoosier deal, especially since they now have a mold for the 19" F430C tire.

    I can't wait for 2011!

whatever Hoosier you want. R80 slick, R100 slick, A6, or R6. I imagine most will run the slicks, they are a solid 2-3 seconds faster. My car just doesn't like that DOT R's, natural setup is for the slicks.

Thanks. Nice to have an alternative to the Pirellis in a 19.

Rob, I asked the question because as you know some series specify DOT tires. Also, because this is a new Hoosier product I hadn't heard about.

Also interesting that Woodman will be distributing the tires, rather than the Hoosier dealers. Woodman is great to work with, I'm just surprised Hoosier would go outside its dealer network.
