Has anyone seen a 330 America for sale lately? I have a buddy who is looking for one and I figured I would put the word out on here. Thanks
don't know of any for sale at the moment. try posting your enquiry on Tom Yang's website www.tomyang.net that is where a lot of the 250/330 crowd gather
Im told that there is an engineless shell in LasVegas.... Im also told that the engine for that chassis is in a crate in the rear of my machineshop... All I know for certain is that what was SUPPOSSED to be in the crate was a 163 engine, and it is NOT...an EARLY 209-and incom pl,etre at that... Only last years was I told of what and where ther "donor" c hassis was located... Chase it down... I have no real interest in this block if I can find a real 163....otherwise, I will have to use it...
5083 has been for sale on and off for the last couple of years. See http://www.330gt.com/Detail/5083.html
I would guess that the engine that 335s owns goes with the car Kerry is referring to. Buy the car, trade the engine presently in the car to 335s and you are back to numbers matching. Regards, Art S.
It came in a box as a spare-purpoted to be a 163, which it wasn't-with a sports Prototype car which a client accquired a coupkle of years back. The origins of the motor were-at that time-unknown to us. I am not certain, but somewhat suspicious that: it is from the LV 3340America car. Stricly speaking, it is not really suitably for my required application, therefore, it is another block in a box in the back of the shop... To be clear: I have no specific knowledge as to any "participation" which Tom may, or may noit have had.... with this car/engine... To clear up that conclusion... FWIW-I AM interested in an honest to god 163 engine-complete, no partials... ciao!

There isn't as much demand for the 330 motors as for the 250s, is there? I would guess if it was a GTE, it would have been broken up already.
I was thinking the same thing - whats the spread between a 250 and 330 engine? 3787 implied close to 80k for a solid 250 engine. what would a 330 engine bring?
250, outside plug, BIG valve heads...GTE engines, excepting the mag castings and specialty racing components, are essentially the base of a GTO engine or a wet sump TR, or a HOT rod SWB..thats it in a nut shell. 4-litre engines are used in 3 variations of GTO bodied cars-not the same 3 ltre frame in any of them-despite what the pundits claim-...2 were PROTOTYPE class cars, used ONCE and couldnt be used again! The third was a "coachbuilt" car for a special customer on the board of Directors of Ferrari! in 1962, the 4litre, "unlimited" Prototype class was born,{0808TRi, 3673SA, and 3765LM} in 63 you had Factory LMB cars with 4 litres..again, PROTOTYPE Class.. 4litres were used in P-cars(our P car used 3, 3.3, AND 4 litres) ADDITIONALLY, those blocks were ALL tipo 163 mlils, there is almost no demand for a 4 litre block in ANY other car, as the frame cant really mount the block-let alone withstand the 80-100+ additional horsepower. And the 64,000 dolaar detail-they are not 163s-but 209..different bore centers...
I would defer to -retired- that 3673 has been historically misattributed (and is in this case). Thanks to Boudewijn for this link http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138024962&postcount=192 As I commented in the More Old Photos thread where he provided it, it was -retired- who sold a 163 block to 3765 LM's owner to build up a 4-liter motor for it when undergoing restoration. Best, Dave
Yes, he did say that he sold it-due to the fact that the engine used in the car for its run at LM in 62 was subsequently removed after LM-as there was NOTHING available on the calendar to race the car-and Ferraro may or may not have kept the car for very long... Interestingly, the steel bodied LMB which arrived for 63 trials, with NO NUMBERS at all on it, was the first car to qualify with 300kmh average, was also owned by the same guy...! It-3765LM- had a P engine prototype mule motor installed-0976, if memory serves me correctly-for many years after wards..it was NOT a GTO engine. The original motor from LM 62, is the motor that is today in 0808TRI..so goes the trail...
0796 which was a 250P mule motor as you indicated. 0796 is the 3liter motor the factory installed in 1963 when they sold the GTO to the first private owner. That is the engine the car carries to this day and IMO makes 3765 LM the sole GTO to have a legitimate claim to being both a 250 GTO and a 330 GTO, FWIW. The 4liter was built up during the restoration with the 163 block from -retired- 'just to have one' for the owner.
It seems odd to me that someone isn't just making new castings of these parts, or even just milling them out of giant blocks of metal. Is there really more interest in hayabusa headed V8 motors in super7s than there is in these motors? The world's an odd place.
I fail to see much sense in those claims, so I for one am with shill288 on this one. Factory docs as exist today do not necessarily help us one bit on this case. Most of the original info has been destroyed in the process of updating the existing file, it seems. Best wishes, Kare
