So I guess the next generation radar detectors are going to have to have a small roof mounted, dish that emits a death ray jammer! I'm sure there are counter measures being worked on as we speak.

Don't be daft. Big brother wouldn't use space tech to check speeds.

They'd use it to check handicapped parking meters. :D

(The RN doesn't even have an adult sized carrier -- where are the brits gonna get satellites? ;))

And just how many tickets do they have to issue to account for the cost of a space camera??

My country (UK) is shameless in the way it fleases its drivers, and i hate it. If its not bad enough having 25% of the worlds surveillance cameras in the tiny UK, now we get this crap :( Why the hell have we allowed our country to be governed by big brother. The people get the government it deserves, and all three governmental parties are exactly the same. Out fo f** over the driver for easy cash. I just get so mad at the injustice and out of whack priorities:(

Speed camera and big brother have been discusssed before.

In Calif SF Bay Area, one of the towns now wants it's red light running camera to also ticket for right or left hand lane rolling turns/ cross-walk infractions.

So? Over 50% of stuff posted on a forum has been discussed before.
About the street camera thing, the UK have had that for years now. Cameras that are supposed to watch the people are also used to catch cars illegal parking/maneuvering and general harassment of its citizens:(.
There is nothing that my crappy country can learn from any other country about big brother and abusing its powers.

I agree, the UK must be the worst place in the world to own a car. You have more layers of taxes on cars and petrol than U.S. drivers can imagine.

But, they have to finance those satellites somehow.

I'd bet the Chinese would sell the British motoring clubs an anti-sat launch...

But I'll contribute for the Fchat Space Yacht if I can ride on it! But remember there is NO SEX IN THE CHAM-PAGNE ROOM.

A couple of years ago I was visiting my sister in England and she got hit by a speed camera when comming to see me.
I thought I would be a good brother and save her points on her licence so when I got back to the US I wrote a letter explaining that she had lent me the car and I would pay the fine if they would forward the paperwork.
They refused and decided to charge her with allowing me to drive her car with out the correct insurance, (if I remember poeple not cars are insured in the UK) something to do with me not being a named driver.
They really do live up the the name "pig" in the UK and I for one am glad to be out of it.

This isn't a space camera. It's a camera at an intersection that records the time it sees a license plate go by and sends that and its location (obtained via GPS, hence the satellite) to a central computer that monitors other camers and then does the math.
