Not sure yet. Still trying to find out what current levels are in the average bottle you get at the store.

Waste of time/money. Old 60's muscle cars don't have any problem with modern fuel as far as that is concerned. They were much higher compression than our 3x8's. It's another "thing to worry about that isn't worth worrying about."

    Castrol 20W-50.

Always entertaining, or lamentable, regarding these threads.

In a hundred years who is going to care? :):)

In a hundred thousand miles who is going to care? :):)

I ran an '87 Rx-7 from mile 1 to mile 215,000 when I foolishly sold it running great and all on Castrol 20W-50.
I am running now an '89 FXSTC on Harley 20W-50 from mile 1 to 128,000. Only regret is I didn't run it on Castrol but unfortunately drank the Harley Kool-Aid :):).

    "20/50 valvoline racing petroleum"

It might be worth noting that race engines (like F1, Nascar, Pro drag racing, etc,) don't use multiweight oil...another example of marketing at its best! ;)

Yes, it's true. I bought the bike new and am riding each and every mile with the greatest of pleasure. To Daytona and back twice. To Milwaukee and back. And, many, many times to the NC mountains. Motor is still running with original pistons, rings and valves. Below is a shot of said motorcycle after fording a stream in the Great Smoky Mountains. This road is a hard packed gravel forest road that dumps you out on the Tail of the Dragon. Fortunately, they pave a bit where the stream crosses the road. You can go anywhere on a Harley :):).

1 can of BG MOA and Redline 10-40 in all my euro cars. Muscle cars get Castrol 10-40 dino oil, and a can of BG MOA.

    Hate to further split hairs....

Anyone who had leaks with full synthetic had better luck with a blend?

    My Car: 1986 328 73K miles

Currently running Castrol 20 / 50. Have a cam seal leak that drips 1-2 drops after every drive. Affraid of increasing these leak problems with going to Mobil 1 15/50 or Red Line 5/50 as both are full synth.

Would like to get closer to original spec of 10/50. I feel like something less than "20" / 50 for cold starts would be nice.

Not sure I have seen in this thread (and I cannot anywhere but motorcycle oil) a conventional 5,10 or 15 / 50 weight?

Thinking of trying MOTUL series 6100 Semi-Synth 15/50.

I had new seals all around and had a real problem with Mobil 1. I am a big fan of Mobil 1 but it just idn't agree with my car. The PO had the engine redone but when I really started putting some mileage on her and pushing the oil would find its way through the seals. I switched to AGIP SINT and I haven't looked back.

When I bought my 328 (4yrs ago) I was very picky about the oil put in it. Now after 4 years of ownership and finding out the paint really doesn't wash off in the rain, I am rather ashamed to say I made my own blend this year. The blend was dictated by what I had on the shelf. 1 gal of Mobil 1 (5W30) + 2 qts Castrol GTX (5W30) + 2 qts Castrol GTX (10W30). Well it is working as the engine hasn't made any funny noises.....yet.;)

Some call that blend ABC oil, others call it Heinz 57
