I turned down $47,000 from a person on Thursday from New Mexico. I think the car is worth every penny of $50,000. I have been asking $55,888.00. The only thing the car is going to need is a fluids and filter change in spring for its annual change,.

And, just to be clear, I did not spend the $120,000 -- the previous owner did -- I was one of the "everyone thereafter" as was the Prince from a Middle Eastern country that I sold it to... :)

I would also just like to add that the Espada really is an incredible car (I have had two so far!). The attention you get is unbelieveable -- not really what I expected, to be honest. Many people don't know what it is, but they know that it is cool and wildly "futuristic" looking. I got just as many questions and "WTF was that?" kind of looks (as I drove by) as any of the other Lambos I have had (Miura S, Countach's, Diablo's, etc).

Hmmm...As I write this, I'm thinking I'm starting to miss having an Espada. Although, I've never had a Jarama and those two that Roy has look interesting... I am a sucker for the Weber side draft Lamborghini engine -- a work of art.

Yeah we all think they're worth more. There was a VERY nice and very original green Series II earlier this year and it ended up going for $40K. It should have sold for much more. So I hope it goes for at least what you want. A European version might have a better shot.

I like the early cars better but I do wish I had PS.

i sent it over .... and for you purisits out there if you think your looking at round holes on the seat back piece your correct and so is the hole. Valentino indicated Espadas left the factory with three different versions on the back of the front seats. Star shaped holes , round holes and no holes. all therefore are correct.

Great, so now we have something more to argue about. The shape of our holes ... :)

The backs of mine (senape light colored) have a light pencil grid drawn on them (still visable) with the star shaped holes.

Can you order star or round holes?

I'm going to guess that the Series III had the no holes variation?

Looking forward to your completed interior and hope to see you this summer at Le Belle Macchine???

You have to divulge the cost as this is very important when restring an interior.
    And, again, stars available?

I think he did post the hole punching price a while back in this thread?

I remember another guy from South America who sent his leather to Valentino as well and I think he said it worked out to about 1 euro per hole at the time. But he may have been pulling my leg? :)

Exactly as mine, and it makes sense since your car is no 327 and mine no 329...

I recently discovered a very early S3 and the holes pattern is exactly as my car, including the ones at the back of the front seats.

I discovered a very early S3, chassis 8950, one of the first 20 made and in fact one the very first S3 delivered in America. It is Rosso Granada / Nero and presently being restored by its owner, a collector and new friend of mine (he should be joining our group soon). Interesting features I found is the Agip bag, which contains various car care products (never seen that before), gas caps are slightly differents from mines, rear hatch struts have a sticker, same seats perforations as mine...

    espada dudes

Brunos Cost 1100 euros. i supply the leather and pay to get it there and back . Oh and for some reason even though i wrote "Sample" all over everything (cause i already own it remember and its coming back to me) the Italian customs dinged Valentino and therefore utimately me , 202 euros to release it to him. I have the invoices and i may fight it but hell might freeze over first before i succeed. So given the fact he wanted 2 whole skins which are heavy from Toronto to italy and back shipping might cost me about 400 in total so round it up and its almost 2grand from where i live. But it will be sweet and the original brown against that wood inside is uber cool . Mr B has advised the stitching was typically the same color as the leather although youd never no it as have my thread was gone and the rest badly faded .
As soon as we get into it i will post some more pics here.

Rosso Granada is a very nice original colour and rare today. Often these cars were repainted in wrong red metallic colour.

Info: Autoart offers a very nice Espada S2 in 1/18 scale in Rosso Granada/Naturale livery.

I think I'm going to practice my hole punch technique ...

The ones on the backside of the seat are no big deal. The others require a cutting die of some kind. We must be able to ge this done more locally.

Best of luck with the customs duties refund Gary. Bunch of crooks.

Wow, thank for the info. In these cases, where something like, and as important as, these holes........it is well worth spending that kind of money on shipping. Remember, it is done once and only once.

Also, who remembers the movie Auto Focus? Starred Greg Kinnear as Bob Crane. 2002.
I loved the movie, by the way, kind really felt for Crane....just a happy go lucky guy.
In the movie there was an Espada that Willem Defoe drives and gets out of, same red as above.
Does anyone know about the car and who owns it?

Bob, Valentino texted me today to tell me he had Bruno punch out 4 backs of the front seats. 2 with round holes and 2 with the star holes so now i can choose. Had he asked , i would have chosen stars and had more leather left over for elsewhere in the cabin.

    Oh well

    Gary,

I think you're remarkably calm about this "hole" episode Gary.
I've done a quick tally of what this holes-in-hides episode has cost and excluding the psychiatric treatments that will eventually be required I'm thinking J.C. Whitney seat covers for my car ...

But it could have gone far worse. I recall this story ...

I was once discussing a humorous or perhaps it was a psychotic episode that the parts guys at BMC in SF had with the Maserati factory back in the 1980s. They were the west coast distributors at that time. Well they had a customer who's QPIII had an engine fire and it caused damage to the interior as well. The customer was insistent upon restoring the car to perfection. So they ordered what they calculated to be enough leather to recover everything. That car is huge and there's a lot of leather utilized. I forget the exact amount but let's say it was 100 square feet of leather. So they ordered it.

What they got back was 100 1'x1' squares of the leather ...

True story. I saw the squares!

Any ideas where i mught buy seat belts.
I beleive my car was never sold new with belts but it does have Chrysler corp front lap belts dated "1970-1972" on the attached fabric label. My assumption is they were installed in the period but the belts themselves are now tired and in need of repacement . Any suggestions.
