Where to buy a Nutsert tool?

If you are anywhere close to SoCal, NEUSPEED the VW & Audi tuning company uses nutserts for many of their strut tower braces. I am sure they have the insert tool in stock. 805-388-7171 is the phone #.

 

Check your local Fastenal store. They have business (non-retail) hours like closed Saturdays and at 5pm but carry an amazing stock of anything fastener related and are located in many smaller cities.

 

If you want a quick and easy way to put in nutserts:



1. Find 1 x bolt, 1 x nut and 2 x washers to fit nutsert.

2. Screw nut on the bolt, followed by 2 washers and then the nutsert.

3. Put some oil between the washers.

4. Insert the nutsert into the hole (make the sure the hole is a tight fit) and screw nut down tight on the back of the nutsert.

5. Put spanner on bolt to hold still then screw the nut against the nutsert to crush it.



This system is good for doing one or two on a saturday night when the stores are shut.

If you are careful does a neater job than some of the cheaper tools.

 

I've used this method a few times.

I have the proper tools but sometimes there isn't room to work with them.
