'09 Scuds priced $220K and above have been sitting for months. The market says these cars are over priced. There's a handful of '09 Scuds priced at retail between $200K-$210K which means they'll move below $200K. '08 Scuds are naturally going to sell below the '09 MY. I believe if you offered $175K for an '08 Scud now, you have a very good chance of driving off with one.

I have to edit my post, as there's at least one '09 Scud priced below $200K and it was listed in this thread. My bad.

Since we don't know where you live, your statement is meaningless. Not to mention it would have to be a very unusual place indeed.

FWIW, I offered 200k on an 09 Scud with 1k miles. Car is listed at 240k. Dealer says it's aggressively priced at 240k! LOL. And they wouldn't negotiate. Something tells me they will be calling me in the not too distant future.

Actually F430addict is not in the US.

Come on guys, I asked 09scud not to disrupt the 458 forum, but if you diss him in 360/430 then he's entitled to respond.

Shawson said it all, if I could put a Scud engine in my CS, then life would be beautiful, speaking of which what does a Scud engine cost ??

Actually my inclination was to get into the 458 and the Scud was supposed to tide me over until I got there. Since I am looking to buy my first Ferrari, I am not as up to speed on the prices and the market on F-Cars in general. I was surprised to see the market on the Scuds to be so soft and hence my question, "what happened"... I fully realize that these are different times and none of the modern Ferrari cars will appreciate or even hold their value for too long. I want to simply enjoy my first Ferrari (which turned out to be a lightly used F430 F1 instead of a Scud) and when my turn comes up for the 458, I'll be ecstatic but fully aware it will cost me money in the long run... :)

I'm not keen to the ROW market prices, but I do know in some Asian countries Ferrari's sell at multiples to the US MSRP due to customs and taxes.

I wasn't aware 09scud was disrupting the 458 forum, or perhaps it was just a warning. My comment wasn't meant to diss him. I was just surprised he hasn't commented because in the past, he's vociferously defends Scud prices.

It's all good. I just like to interject with some humor. No diss intended. :D

If they call you back, you should lower your offer price by another $5K to show you're aggressively serious about buying the car.

I think we can conclude very low miles, sub $200K is a good deal, new 350K was probably not, but we may be near the bottom, IF the the 3000+ Scud owners don't all test drive a 458, LoL !

Can anyone share with us what is the base price of an '09 Scud and a 458 Italia before any options are added? TIA

Edit: My good friend who has picked up his 2010 458, sent to me his window sticker.

Port of Entry Retail Price $225,625
    Preparation and Delivery $350
    Destination Charges $7,500

A nicely optioned 2010 458 Italia will run about $260K.

But can you find one to buy and at MSRP? Highly doubtful.

In your opinion is it worth another $10,000-$20,000 to buy an '09 due to the extra year of warranty, or is buying an '08 and getting an extended warranty the way to go; (I don't know the costs of those btw).

And very quickly, are the cars reliable? (I know maintenance costs are lower than the 360 due to the change to timing chains versus belts). Any info greatly appreciated.

My mantra has always been to buy the latest model year (of any car) you can afford. But I don't think an extra year of warranty is worth $10k-$20K. The 1yr POWER warranty offered by Ferrari costs less than $10K.

I had just left Ferrrai dealer a few hours ago and I was asked if I want to replace my F430 with a new 458@MSPR since my F430 is 3 years old. I just paused because I had no intention to get a new 458.

I guess the answer to Bish's question is "yes" and "yes."

I don't know... I'm not generally keen on Ferrari's modern styling direction, but the 458 is the best looking sports car they've made since the 308/328 era. It actually looks low, muscular and compact, like the 308/328/Boxer.

It also seems to have been a very pronounced break with the 360/F430 design -- anyone can see that it's really new, whereas the 360/360CS/F430/F430S line has differences, but look the same to the general public.

It's also probably Ferrari's best performing road car ever (even counting the Enzo) -- which makes it a "bargain" in Ferrari terms.

I believe the 458 Italia lapped their test track faster than the venerable Enzo.

Maybe Ferrari has finally found a price point where some people balk. When 430s came out in 2005, base price was about 170K for a stick, 180K for paddles. After options, most sold for 190-200K. 458s are about 50% higher. If I were to trade in my 2005, I'd have to still write a check for around 200K including taxes. Even though I am a Ferrari owner, I'm also a value based thinker and this does not compute, particularly since the 430 has been such a great, reliable, relatively cheap to own car for me.

yep, I am actually posting in this section. I 100% agree with you.

Like Clarkson has said a few times, the 458 is the first "beautiful Ferrari" they have made in a long time. Sorry, but the 360/430 looks like a melted jellybean to me.

I truly love the way a 458 looks. I would love to see one in person sometime.

    Next Spring is my prediction.
Too much plastic looking fascia on the 458
