Can anyone tell me what is this plug for? It is for a 99 Modena. I look all around to see if the other end is near of it and nothing.

A diagnostic plug for ? Peel back the boot and note the wire colors, then see if you can find a complete wiring diagram and find these colors.

    David,

If you can tell me what the wire colors are, I can look at my harness diagrams. Can I presume yours is a US car?

OK, I come up with Secondary Air solenoid valve. One wire is purple, the other is Blue with a green trace.

The picture you show is for a connector at the back of the motor. My picture shows connector 6L at the front of the motor. (I wish I knew how to post it). It's shown near the fuel pressure sensor labeled 5L. I'll keep looking

Don't let the term Secondary Air throw you, it could be semantics. The solenoid I think it goes to is part of the exhaust bypass system. Were those components perhaps removed when your aftermarket exhaust system was installed? There is a tank and associated plumbing for that system.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?

The solenoid closes exhaust path valves at idle to control noise, but that restrains airflow. Perhaps the prior owner removed it encourage the exhaust sound and improve low RPM performance.
