Did Paul Frerè use -sometimes?- the pseudonym "Carolo" for his magazine-features in the 50s? Anybody?

    Ciao!

I've been away from F'Chat for a while and only came across this thread (and this comment) last night.

I don't have a serial number for this car, but the photo below is of an Ellena that was on display at the Seattle Concours back on Sept. 17th, 2000 (one of the first club events I participated in after just buying my GT4 two months prior). I've included a sales sheet from Cosmopolitan Motors that was included in the entry form for the show (they were one of the sponsors). The sales sheet listed a 250 GT Boano for sale though... I don't know if it was a typo, or they did have a Boano for sale and brought this Ellena to the show instead.

And maybe one day all those poor 250 GT bodies laying around will again find the way to her respective frames. But there is much to do now.

The photo at Albi comes from February 23, 1964. Standing in front of 0635GT is GTO 3769GT of Sylvain Garant with race# 50. Garant had a severe crash at this event.

I didn't look, but might be able to track down through Chris Parr or others at event. They did the big China rally a few years back if that helps. Still has stickers from that event.

That must be a mix up as 0743GT is in Finland since 1980's!

    Hello,

here is some information concerning another Boano: Serial number 635, presently black with dark red original interior and sand carpets. Attached a picture taken in 1963 at Ventoux hill climb race in France. Finished first in 3-liter class, driver Rouveyran. Raced also at Course de vitesse d'Albi, result unknown (I wish I would have the GTO on the picture!)

Few people know that Boano was the designer of the famed Lancia Aurelia B20. It was manufactured by Pininfarina with minor changes in the design, but the design was Boano! Conversely, the 250GT was a Pininfarina design, manufactured by Boano, with minor changes in the design!!! Very incestuous.

Recently sold at Gullwing Motors, not heard of for 40 years...

    'The Discovery of A Lifetime

This 1958 Ferrari 250GT Ellena Coupe (Chassis #0865) was purchased from an elderly gentleman who owned it since 1974. The car was silver originally but was re-painted in red 20 years ago. It is matching numbers and one of only 49 examples ever built. This is the first time it's been offered for sale in the last 40 years. This highly coveted and exciting car comes with extensive ownership history as well as service documents and literature. An overall exceptional car to own for only $725,000.'
