It did seem like he was enjoying himself. For the most part I was playing along with the whole blind thing but I'm still a bit skeptical. I would love to see the takes before what actually aired. All in all it's not the worst effort in the world but I read an article that said the show went through hundreds upon hundreds of castings for judges. If this is the best they could come up with I would hate to have seen the auditions. My bet is that the majority of Fchatters could do the same job if not better. At least we know what were talking about. I think the humor from the judges chemistry is one of the major missing components.

And if he was blind it shows how truly bad Wood an Ferrara are. That or he was extremely lucky :)

just watched 2nd episode and loved it! the evo driving down a ski run in between trees was insane. tanner proved his skills to me there but no helmet was a little crazy. also liked the hill climb snippet but could have watched more. would love to see them do a foust vs j clarkson race episode

even better is there was at least some criticism of the cars - evo is ugly, v8 vant is underpowered and over weight, better choices for the $180k the v12 costs,...

this is best car show in usa

There is no doubt Foust is a fast driver, he just has the personality of a doorknob.

This is the issue of the entire show!

Everything else is the same as the UK version. But it lacks all the witty humor, no way Americans will every be able to emulate it. The British humor is the key to the whole show in my opinion. I like watching the cars, but what I really like is all the witty remarks.

Watched the 2nd episode last night and it was a letdown. Specifically, with the Aston Martin segment, there wasn't much that was different than watching a 007 movie - slalom in a factory...drifting the car on a lakebed? And they had 6 miles of lakebed but couldn't get the car up to top speed? Not exactly something to be proud of if your show is called Top Gear.

And I have to say that so far, all three of the hosts appear to be dorks. They have no charisma at all. (or should that be no CARisma?) The show needs credible personalities instead of dorks. I think the reason why Stig is in disguise is because he would blow the others away if we knew who he/she was.

Blind guy driving . . . hum, where have I seen that premise before. Should have used the Mondial convert, at least it would have shown a sense of humor. OOH AHHH!!

Another great series is The Smoking Tire, its just online for now, www.thesmokingtire.com They just did a nice episode on a supercharged R8. Not as many radical stunts as Top Gear UK, but its more interesting than TopGear USA... :)

I saw the show last week. Love the big budget production, classic top gear cinematography and setings. I will watch it just for that. Off course its not in the same league as the original but that was always going to happen.

The hosts are trying but there is ZERO chemistry and they are genuinely Unfunny with very little personality between them.

The US show is struggling to find its identity. To try and do a 100% carbon copy of the UK show is not the way to go IMO.

I believe that "the US Stig' may be Tracy FWIW. Show sucks, they should try to get first takes on the drive bits and not have 6 or 7 sets of tire tracks from previous runs. They totally fail on the 'humour' bits bordered on insulting and nowhere near funny. they filmed all the episodes in hangar shots on one day I hear.

Stig's just embarrassed to show his face amongst that group, IMO.

Today's episode was actually dare I say entertaining to watch. It really seems like the hosts are starting to develop some of the chemistry that makes the original show so good. I think by the end of the season that it will actually be a good show. The offroad race was just awesome with the big old caddy.

25% of the content is getting better, hosts are still pretty lame, and the celebrity guest appearance is a waste. That episode should have been 10 minutes long: offroad race (entertaining), 180 turn around (which was lame), the cop chase (also fairly lame), and the overnight (pretty lame).

EXACTLY. Plus the show feels forced and I haven't been convinced that Wood and Ferrara are actually car guys.

Unfortunately Cablevision does not carry BBC America (but they have BBC World), so I can't tune into Top Gear UK like I want to, and like many others I was anxious to see our version of this iconic automotive television show.

Yes, the producers could have picked better personalities for the show but I think having a young hot shoe like Tanner Foust is a plus, it's the supporting cast of characters that I do question. If it was up to me I would have loved to see Adam Carolla and Matt Farah (Garage 419) along side Tanner. With this you would have a professional driver, a comedian that is an enthusuast as well as one the most entertaining automotive journalist (if you want to refer to Matt as one) out there today.

So, the first show airs and I like many others was dissapointed, I don't know if it was 1st show jitters or what, it just didn't seem organic at all. Now the second show airs and again I was if mildly entertained at best, but again I have so few choices when it comes to feeding my automotive viewing hunger. Finally last night I watched this past weeks episode and actually laughed a few times. I believe that this has been the best show yet.

I thought that the $1000 challenge was quite funny, as it reminded me of Top Gear UK's past challenges and even though it may mimic what they have done previously, it's always entertaining seeing what someone else does with the same idea or concept. I just hope that they keep the momentum going.

Until Cablevision adds BBC America I have to watch what I can get.

I did not see shows one or two. I did just see the $1000 challange and thought it was hysterical. I felt like I was back in high school (1979) with my buddies and I driving enormous cars that our parents had rejected. Each car with an Achillies heal, or some blatant problem(s) that we did not have the money to fix.
Great entertainment, and something I think most of us could relate to.

I enjoyed the most recent episode ($1000 cars). So far it was the best of the US series. They still were dull during studio recorded portions, but I thought the actual segement itself was funny, and well made.
