Hello everyone. I have a few questions regarding the 360 CS, and I hope all you owners and experts out there on this wonderful forum may be able to help answer them.

    1. In this picture: http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad314/pauli353/stock-2.jpg, the hoses in the center of the engine are blue compared to the black ones in this picture: http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad314/pauli353/stock-1.jpg. Why are the hoses blue in the first picture? Is it because the picture is of the engine of a European-version CS? (I'm not sure if the picture is of a European CS's engine, im just wondering if any of you know). I do know, however, that the second picture is of the engine of an American CS. In the first picture, could the blue hoses be replaced with black hoses (such as those in the second picture), or even titanium pipes?

    2. In the first picture, there are two blue-painted diagonal-running pipes parallel with each other. First of all, what are these pipes? What is their function, and can they be painted a different color? Secondly, in the second picture it appears that there is only one pipe rather than two. Why is this? I personally suspect that the first picture is of the engine of a European CS and I know for sure that the second picture is of an American CS. I have heard that there are differences (even that the European CS sounds better than the American version). Could someone please list the differences?

    3. I have searched all over, and have not been able to find the complete original factory options list for the Challenge Stradale. Could someone please post it (with most, if not all, of the names of the options exactly as they were when presented to Challenge Stradale buyers back in 2003-04)?

Well, I know it seems like alot of requests, but I would appreciate any informative answers more than you can imagine! The CS is my favorite Ferrari of all time, but unfortunately salespersons and technicians alike have been reluctant to answer my questions/requests above.

Thank you all very much in advance.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

The easiest answer to questions 1 and 2, if not a complete answer, is that i'm yet to see the engine of a production run CS that has the hoses blue, as in the first picture. That picture is taken from the official brochure/press kit for the CS - I've not seen ANY UK/Euro car with a hose setup like that, nor a picture of a US car with such an engine.

Okay, so although I've never acually seen a European version of the Challenge Stradale's engine, basically what you are saying is that none of the European versions have blue hoses, right?

And... what about the blue bar? I've seen that in every CS engine I've ever seen (which is several). What is the blue bar's purpose? Can/should it be painted a different colour? Why is it blue in the first place?

    1. I reckon the blue pipes are simply silicon replacements - an "upgrade" of sorts - they are supposed to be a little more durable than standard rubber and are used extensively by owners of jap boy-racer cars and are somewhat out of place in the engine bay of a CS (imo).

    2. Seems to be an alternative means to the same objective. My regular Modena has the two rails. The one with only one rail still seems to hook up the same components but in a slightly different way. Can you paint it? Sure! Do what you want with it! I can't imagine any possible downside.

    3. Search is your friend. It's out there somewhere!

    Good luck.

Here is a CS web site. http://www.************.com/index.php

For the life of me, I can't figure a reason why the identity of these hoses, as well as the colors are of such a critical value.... and I have a CS!

The blue hoses are aftermarket. As for what they are.... they go from the oil filler tank, to the intake plenums. So, its probably an oil vapor recovery.

Thanks for the link, Ingenere. The reason they are of such a critical value to me is because, although I don't own a CS, I'm putting together an as-accurate-as-possible configuration of my dream Challenge Stradale for the benifit of myself and a friend. And if I owned a CS, I would be particular about the colours in the engine compartment, and would paint any blue-coloured components black (or have replace them with custom-fabricated carbon fiber parts).

Edit: Since you acually own a Challenge Stradale, do you think you might be kind enough to post a complete original factory options list for the CS? That would be truly amazing, as I have been looking all over for one. The website to which you provided a link was truly resourceful, and I got some great info from it. However, I did come across an options list for the CS on it, but I suspect it may be a slight bit inaccurate. (http://www.************.com/challange-stradale-options-list-t18.html) I need all information to be as realistic as possible according to the options list presented to buyers of the CS back in 2003-04 (such as yourself).

I have the blue pipe as well, but the blue tubes on the original picture are aftermarket.

The options list on the stradale site is pretty much correct. In the US, we didn't have the choice of a roll bar, 4pt belts or the lexan side windows.
