I am at an age where the old joints and muscles arent so good anymore! I would have been very embarrassed had I had to visit the local ER/A&E to have my arms relocated in my shoulder joints with that 348! PAS is just fine with me, thanks!

a good point well made, we have 348 front wings, bonnet, cabin and doors almost identical with just some air intake covers different. again the rear is just a few cosmetic changes.
engine may be a bit more different, suspension tweaked. but as you say, we wouldn't have 355s without the test bed 348!

Lol! Anyone else notice its always the 348 guys that get all pissed of in these threads;)
Regarding the feeble and weak line, there would be no 355 with out the 348 bla bla. An artist will always always do a throw away draft before his work of art ;) And according to the ferrari president, it seems someone put the throw away draft into production :D

For the record i to thought this thread was just about ribbing, there only cars after all:) Oh and just check who started this thread and what the thread title is called;) Dont get all defensive and moody when we send a salvo your way:D
But by chance today in the UK motoring weekly, Autocar. There is a 5 page write up on the ferrari 458 v the F40 v the Enzo:) At the back of the magazine there is a one page write up on the Ferrari 348, the page is called. The cars that saved or SHAMED the company, they have a different car every week
I wont bother telling you what the write up said, but it was the usual LOL!! :D

Seriously?!? bizarre comment from someone who claims to have owned both cars!
80% of these 2 cars are identical!
A few redesigned body panels, 8 more valves, 1 more gear and power steering is a quantum leap??? lol The 355 has a laundry list of shortcomings and notorious issues too... some in common, some unique.

I love the 348 & 355, some of the reasons are the same, some are different, but I have just as many beefs and eye-rolling issues about each car.

Bottom line, only a true driver and "Ferrari guy" appreciates the 348, and if the 348 had never been designed and built... the 355 wouldn't exist!

Hey - that steering wheel is located on the wrong side of the car.

Not bizarre at all! Only this, only that, more poblems, different problems etc etc etc... The bottom line is a 355 drives better, handles better, gearbox is better, the windows go up and down properly, I can park it in tight spaces, it performs better, it sounds better! Thats why it is 10 times better than a 348. Its a proper car not an animal. The owner of an independent Ferrari repairer put it perfectly "Great if you are Michael Scumacher driving a 348 on the track" No good for me for two reasons - but then I am not a true driver or a "Ferrari Guy" so what do I know??

Oh BTW I dont claim to have owned both cars - I have owned both cars!

    Not at all. :D:D

I LOVE the 458, and my 348 aint going anywhere. ;);)

    Correct. :D:D

That makes two of us.:eek:

Would wanna be "better". It came 5 yrs after the first 348. :D:D

360 is "better" than the 355. The 430 is "better" than the 360 etc..etc. ;);)

Both 348 and 355 are great cars in their own right. :):)

We could go on forever but my own personal view is that the 348 is not a great car in its own right. The agricultural gearbox, for instance, is a design fault IMHO. I had a 308GT4 many moons ago and I remember that to have distinct advantages over a later 348 - the gearbox/shift mechanism being one!

Many 348 owners will have driven 355s. They can be objective but those 348 owners who have not can't possibly know how good a 355 merely from looking at the spec' of car and comparing 5 valves for 4, an extra gear etc etc.

Each to their own I guess. :):)

I love em both, just love the look and the non p/steering of the 348! :):)

I like cars that are "hard" to drive. The agricultural gearbox, hard accel pedal, heavy steering etc..etc. :):)

As said, each to their own. ;);)

Absolutely!! I am just miffed by someone telling me I am not a true driver and a "Ferrari guy" just because I didn't like one of the cars that I owned (for good reason IMHO). Ive driven umpteen cars in various modes (including 3 seasons of Formula Ford 1600) over the 46 years I've had a licence. Not a true driver - a little harsh?
