    Hello. I have two questions regarding aftermarket engine components for the 360 Challenge Stradale:

    1. Who makes the best carbon fiber air intake chambers (aka airboxes) for the 360? (CS in particular, but of course any carbon airboxes labeled to fit the 360 will fit the CS also)

    2. Does anyone make a carbon fiber antifreeze reservoir caisson for the 360? (this thing: http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad314/pauli353/DSCF7637.jpg)

    Carbon fiber paint? Carbon fiber has a pattern... called a weave. How can one literally paint a pattern? Sir, I do think you have mixed up your words....

    Paul,

    The 360 Modena & Spider have different (smaller diameter) AFM's (Air Flow Meters - devices which measure the amount of air flowing through the intake system at any one time) than a Challenge Stradale. This means that the air filter covers (be they aluminum or carbon) fit using a different mountings so they are NOT interchangeable as your post imply's.

    o On the CS the air filter box covers attach using hex screws and bolts to fit to the AFM's.
    o On the reguar 360's the air box covers attach to the AFM's using spring loaded clips.

    As a consequence of the above fitting differences you cannot just fit 360 airbox covers on a CS or the other way around fit CS carbon covers on a regular 360. Even if they did fit (which they don't) there is more to it than simply swapping over the covers (explained below further).

    There was a rare carbon zone option available late into the 360 model year that offered a carbon engine bay which included the engine drip covers and airbox covers however the number of owners who purchased this extra kit is very low. If you just want glossy CF air box covers on your 360 your better searching on Ebay for compatible items with the correct clip on cover fitments.

    Upgrading a 360 to CS spec
    It is technically possible to buy CS spec everything, air filter carbon covers, CS/430/599 air flow meters and fit them as a complete replacement on your 360 but your looking at big costs to do it properly. Really for everything to work together properly you need to get the engine remapped to CS spec's (so it can use the larger air flow meters properly). If you go this route you'll be fitting;

    o CS spec, high flow exhaust (to get exhaust gasses out faster)
    o CS, high flow carbon air box covers (to get air in faster)
    o CS/430/599, A pair of larger afm's (to remove top end rpm restrictions and power losses)
    o CS ignition software

    At this point your into major costs as you've just upgraded your intake, exhaust and engine mapping. All this also assumes you can get someone in the industry to remap your (pair) of Monotronic igntion computers to CS spec too. This also controls the computer controlled variable cam timing so you get more top end power. (the timing overlaps the intake and exhaust more aggressively than factory stock).

    Finally on the coolant overflow tank point, the 430 version in CF will fit a 360 but again they are rare and have a slightly different styling to the top. As yet I've not seen an aftermarket CF company do an all carbon version of it.

    Q. Perhaps some CF sponsor could do a CF laminating service for the coolant overflow tank?
