When they say the top is like new (never used) -

Does that mean it's been stored for 18 years with the top down or the cover has never been used?

buddy of mine bought a nice 87 Mondial for $16k. Did the maintenance, car drives like a new car.

detailed it, car looks like a new car.

hence my jaded comments on here from the peanut gallery that some of you guys are off your rocker on Ferrari prices.

I have paid my money for 6 Ferrari's, and seen 5-6 others come and go locally for good numbers.

Just saying there are good cars out there. But you have to go after them, and yes, roll the dice a bit.

call on the car, have someone look at it . (and make sure the Title is ok)

    wire funds.

    send truck.

    its that simple.

hmmmm, well, you have a point

but it does sound too too cheap

    something's gotta be wrong

but, as you said, show up with 19k in your pocket, drive it home, whatta got to lose !
might be a good driver ... CHEAPER than a new CIVIC ! :)

    and, another thing

the used parts alone on that car are worth 4 times that 19k

so if it blows, part it out fast ...get all your money back

The current owner may have been quoted $19,000 for a major. Might think that if someone wants to have $40k in a fresh Mondial t that this discounted number is what its going to take. I personally see it to be worth more, but who knows the scenario.

Cheap? You bet. But it's a Mondial t with the same drivetrain as a 348 and the same inherent maintenance costs. 44k miles appears high to many Ferrari shoppers, it likely needs a major and it's just a difficult model to sell. He's priced it to move. Totally agree, good cars are out there for excellent prices and the market just isn't $40k+ for any 3x8 series Ferrari like most of us would prefer. It's $20-35k with rare exceptions on either end.

Like a family member of mine likes to say ......."you can't make up this shiz".

    So..........

If it's priced high, they want to know why.

If it's priced middle range, they want to think about it.

If it's priced low, they want to assume the worst.

The dynamics of life affecting the seller at the moment, can cause the pricing of an item to be anywhere between low and high. As a buyer, look at "all the shiz" - and look at the car too :):):)

    Happy Holidays,

    Hank

If you need to sell a Ferrari right now, then that asking price is certainly reasonable. There are a ton of Fcars on the market right now (some better than others.) If this guy doesn't want to spend a year trying to sell and (as someone pointed out) doesn't want to put more money into it, then this is a good strategy.

    FWIW,

Mondial T's are going for much more than this at wholesale and at auction right now in my region. In fact, depending on condition Mondial 3.2s are fetching 25K from wholesalers in my region.

Unless this car has stories, issues, or is a scam, he could dump it to a wholesaler a lot easier than this.

    great post !

    ya, really...
...but for those only pretending to be in in the market anyway, it's easier to just pick it apart from behind a computer screen somewhere...
even good, ol' fashioned tirekicking is a dying art.

i hope so too...T's are a blast to drive...decent power combined with their weight distribution makes them a ton of fun on country roads.
great bang for the buck !
