I pay about $250 a year for my agreed value ($35K) policy with American Family.

I've been a customer over 20 years and have never made a claim.

I run liability-only on my Boxster S, and don't really sweat it. It's a $20k car though. With the exception of my 355, I've done liability-only for over 20 years, and probably saved about $1k per year. So I've saved $20k basically paying for the Boxster. If it goes, it goes. I'd be squirming if I went that same route with a 348 though.

    Good luck!

It sells tomorrow and currently is at $8,700.00. You want me to pick it up for you? It's like parting with the wife and getting reintroduced again by some stranger :)

The car sells tomorrow but I think someone already bought it off of the insurance Co. and now trying to pull a fast one on someone else. Its currently at 8700.00 and sells tomorrow. If you know you got a stash hidden somewhere in the car, let me know and I will buy the car you, we'll take the diamonds out and then resale the car without the diamonds.
Great, I just came up with a script for a new movie :)

Don't they have Progressive Direct, where they shop their competitors for you and compare rates?

I bet that would yield slightly humorous results.....

    Wow Steve,

That's crazy! If I hadn't got the news today about the rates, I'd probably buy it and repair it. The engine alone in the car is worth that! The car had a fresh major less than 4,000 miles before the wreck and it was mechanically sound.

I did some part sourcing and checked into what I could adequately repair it for and I could've had it completely corrected for $10K. Pretty "stoopud" to think you could have one of these for $18K even with a history. Like I said, I know the car and there aren't any secrets. When it came to reliability, the car was sound.

If you know somebody that don't mind a history, that's getting one for half price...and you have my word the car's history is flawless. I still have all the records and manuals for it, I'd be happy to give the new owner.

Talk to Jano in DFW group, he's fixed a 348 or two at his shop and might be able to point you in the right direction.

Turn it into a track car. That way you don't have to worry about insurance at all, and you get to still enjoy it!

Buy your old one back, sell the one you now have, fix the first one and since you'll only have $18,000 in it drop collision on it and drive slow!

You will probably find the empty bottle of Jack Daniels he was drinking when he wrote it off.
;) Maybe Tony should consider learning to drive properly or maybe giving it up for a while before he kills someone.

Maybe GerryD should go back and read how the RR wreck that totaled the car was the other driver's fault, not mine. Since he was uninsured, it went through my insurance.

I think you'd find that whose "fault" it is makes a lot less difference than you might think.

When an insurance company pays a claim (especially more than one) they are going to work to get their money back.

May I also ask how many traffic violations you have or does that not count. Usually people who get into multiple situations have more going on than they care to tell about.

That's a BIG FAT ZERO on ANY KIND of moving violations whatsoever and when I totaled the Ferrari, I was not ticketed and there was no other driver involved.

I haven't had a speeding ticket in over 5 years now and knock on wood...I have NEVER been pulled over in my Lotus or any of my F cars.

    Try again...

No Bruce, I'm a fair guy and try to keep things on a respectable level. Even when we agree to disagree, but you know what happens when people make an assumption right?

I think there's a fine line in joshing around and smartmouths out to go on a rant with ideas of what someone's record may in fact be without knowing.

Saying I should park it before I kill someone is a touch over the line and goes far beyond a brotherhood spoof.

I don't mind people laughing about it and having fun with me, but GerryD aint exactly coming across to me as a friendly type...that's when it seizes to be funny and becomes quite personal. At the end of the day I'm stuck with an $850 a month premium and that's far from funny. I'm stuck with it, so I'm trying to have a laugh about it, but taking it to a level of risking people's lives is highly unwarranted and far beyond friendly.

Tony, my insurance company warned me about not becoming a lightening rod for traffic accidents regardless of whose fault it may be. Some people just have bad luck (their words) and the insurance company tries to vet them out before it costs them too much. Me, I always look for the guy driving around with the dark cloud over the car. ;)
