I think the 308 GT4 would be a good choice to least likely make an impression. Especially in any other color but red.

I have had numerous people mistake my car for something else - I am up to 10 in terms of people asking me what year Mustang it is...

Many only recognize the car for its make once the see the horse, then I get, "what model is that?" "I thought they only made rear engined cars?" etc, etc.

I followed a 308 GTB in red through town, about 100 ft back, and everyone stopped to look - then turned away once the red car passed; it helps that mine is Canna Di Fucile.

Yeah any non red or yellow car first and foremost. Even a red mondial or 456 is going to make a kid go "wow, a ferrari!"

My 2000 Nero 456M GTA does all the time. The Capristo exhaust doesn't hurt either.

Agreed. At cars and coffee when parked side-by-side with other Ferraris, my silver car is like the homely sister compared to it's flashier-looking siblings all dressed in red. People usually do double-takes because a hardtopped, non-red "Magnum P.I." car really does not compute for them.

Driving it in rush hour traffic, the silver GTB blends right in with the other commuter drones in DC area traffic. Once while waiting at a stoplight, I looked in my rearview mirror just in time to see the driver behind me mouth the words "328 GTB" and "Ferrari" as he read the badges on my car directly in front of him. Driver's head cocks to the side like my golden retriever used to do when puzzled by something she saw.

I have a buddy who bought a pozzi blue 550 just to fly under the radar. I watched him drive through a major college campus without anyone batting an eye.......until he downshifted. :)

I got very little attention in the TDF 575 I had. My ex-MIL thought it was a Mustang. Even when parked downtown, only people that knew their cars would bat an eye. Color definitely helped.

Funny thing is the Bentley turns more heads than the 308.

I think car color has a lot to with it as well.

I have a white 348. I don't get any second looks on the freeway from the average motorist.

    Red is almost automatically Ferrari.

hmm....you have a unique experience then. I agree on car color, but not on white. The white Jalpa gets more looks/attention consistently than anything, and the white 308 I drove a few times got so much attention I might as well have had a police escort.

Most people would think the 308GT4 is a much more modern car that it actually is. To non-F people, it has a distinctively modern 'what is that car' type look. Has certainly aged well...

I think that the 400s may be something that people would not look at twice, but most of the other cars would produce an impression.

It's funny to see people suggest the Mondial wouldn't. I've got a 430 and a Mondial, and the Mondial gets more attention than the 430. Everybody confuses it with the Magnum cars.

I'd go with some of the more mundane one-off coupes from the fifties. I admire refined good taste but some of the coupes were just plain bland.

    Merry Christmas all.

i'm not 100% sure i understand the question...

...but my 400('s) never fail to impress because they just ooze class and nothing is as elegant once in motion as a 400...nothing...
and we've had pretty much everything go through the doors now. it's hard to explain, but they just float above the ground like nothing else.
my 400('s) have been the workhorse('s) in my ever changing stable of Ferrari's since 2001...and if push came to shove, everything else would go first.
they're pure class and get respect in a way that the 'boyracer' mid-engine 8's never could...and i've got bunch of those too.
