I don't have any neighbors close enough to see what's in my driveway, and I like it that way :)

Again, having owned them for 25 years, I've found that most people have no clue about models. They usually know the latest one from pictures or ads and model cars so that's the one that gets them the most excited -- the latest that gets the most PR. In the eighties it was the 308 and TR. Now it's the 360/430 but that will change to the 458 when the new spider hits.

People are also drawn to the price of the car so the latest models are usually the most expensive (aside from the true classics and ultra exotics of course). When they hear you paid more than their home for one, that gets attention.

    +1.

It's the cheese graters, a uniquely Ferrari design element. And because of that, I'd have to add the 348 to the list -- because unknowledgeable observers assume it's a TR.

Another piece of data... a few months ago, I went to a local car event that featured mostly Porsche and BMW, along with some American muscle and a sprinkling of exotics. I pulled in next to a 599. Guess which car attracted a bigger crowd...

You have to remember we're all a bit jaded. Most people would see nothing but an old race car and it might get a "cool" but not a "wow." But pretty much any street Ferrari will get a wow from anyone who knows anything about cars, even (maybe especially) my little 308. It definitely rates wows, because so many people know it's the Magnum car.

This is what got my obsession going:

Not the car, but, I guarantee, when I'm leaving the street in one of these 2nd gear, 7krpm's, that will certainly leave a lasting impression :)

Yea, for me, it's the huge side strakes over the doors that really scream FERRARI!

I like the proportions of the 348 better than the Testarossa, but either car would draw a pretty big wow factor. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

On the road, I get a lot of thumbs up from everybody,
    even plumbers in their trucks.

In my neck of the woods ( and I do mean woods; North Florida),
a Ferrari is a rare item, and seeing one is an event.

People stop on the street in front of the house
to look at my 456 in the driveway.

Then they see the other Ferrari in the garage.....

Any Ferrari would make the neighbors go wow. I was working on my 355 one day and the neighbors drove by. The 9 years old kid in the car made the dad stop and look. I came out to say hi and the kid said he wanted to hear the engine. His mom said "it does not look like the car is going to run for a while with the engine sitting on the ground." So I said the blue one is not running but the red one is and I uncovered the 328 in the driveway and asked the kid to come and sit in the car. He got a smile from ear to ear. We fired up the engine, revved it so loud he had to cover his ears. His dad took a picture of him in the car and his mom said I made his day.

    Any Ferrari will do.

    TR for sure.

I normally don't get too much reaction from the neighbors with the 308. My prior Cobra rep got a lot more "wows" because it was so recognizable. My 308 GTB has received a few "hey, nice car" comments, but not too many "wows". It has also been mistaken for a Lotus and a Lambo.

My driveway typically looks like this on nice weekends, and yes, the neighbors that don't think I'm a flesh eating attorney do stop by and say wow!

Remember, most people aren't into cars, let alone Ferraris. You don't have to spend bazillions to have fun...

I had a guy who was riding on a new Ducati tell me, "I'm saving up to buy a Ferrari like yours, I see them for sale at $40k all the time". I drive an F430...

I think that goes for a lot of exotic or rare cars. I drove the Merak to the 7-11 when I first got it, and a guy pulls up & is walking into the store as I was leaving & getting into the Merak & the first thing out of his mouth was: "Is that a kit car?".

I imagine a rosso corsa or yellow 275GTB/4 would wake up the neighbors on my block, as would a 550 in one of the same colors and the right exhaust system.

There's a guy with a 430 three houses west and me with the 308. I guess we're each "the other guy with a Ferrari"...in a year, we've only spoken briefly.

I get tons of looks and comments in my black 308. However, here in OK an exotic is like a spaceship.

I agree. It has to be something that really stands out, like a TR, Enzo, F40, or 348 (348 because of the TR look-alike) for them to really notice it is a Ferrari

Yeah, same with mine. Any Ferrari stops traffic and people. Most people will never be able to tell one Ferrari from another, new or old. Some even ask who makes it while looking down at the horse and the word "Ferrari" on the back lid.

Mine is probably the only Ferrari for many square miles at least, and I have to keep it in the garage as much as possible or it attracts people like a car show. They comer knock on the door and ask about it or ask if they can take pictures of it and themselves :) Doesn't help that the Hummer H1 is parked there too!

As for which one to choose, it's the one you like best :)

    A burning two-valve 308i should suffice.
