Dan - add up the hrs you put into yours and then multiply it by $100.00 per shop hours .... if i recall your car didnt need a full new interior, nor a full body paint job - i would guess to rebuild a lambo 12 banger and anything else , you are closer to $120K............therefore this car in question is at least $35,000 grand to high in price. The car to me is only worth at best $20,000 - anything more, and your getting hosed....this car isnt even a parts car.
If it is the Ottawa car as previously mentioned, below are a few pictures. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks exactly like the car in the website....Black on Black with white graphics on the rear fascia. It looks in suprisingly mint condition in your photos.....But looks like a hunk of scrap in the website photos. What happened to this car?
Those pictures are from the summer of 2008. The car looked good in the flesh. I believe it is the same car.
There are at least 4 Countaches in the Ottawa area, may or may not be the same car. Know of 2 reds and 2 blacks. The car shown in pics (2009 Italian week) was not driven by the owner. Mechanic/handler
That black countach in in the pics looks good and worth the 58k and taxes. So i take it there are a few of us waiting for the car to come down a little in price.I figure if i can get a running countach for under 50k all in i will buy it.I would not do a full resto just keep it running and do as much of the work myself as i can. I learned a long time ago not to restore a car but buy one that is already done.I guess we will know in a few weeks if it is sold or not..
This thing needs tonnes of work (as we all know) But under $50Gs one cant go wrong simply because the parts alone is worth that Would definetly make a fun project. But I have a feeling this CT is gonna go for stupid money to some guy whos gonna get over their head.
^ how good of a deal would this car be at 50 grand , if after you bring it home - you find antifreeze in the block after a 100 - 300 kms of driving? or better still - you do the oil change .... and have too add a litre of oil after a 300 - 500 km drive ? Or better still. you have to shift "slow" to get into the gears this car is way too over priced - its amazing there is always someone out there that thinks they can fix and make them run --- going around the block with a temp needle going to 3/4 after 13 minutes, is not a running car. if you cant afford an expensive Lambo - no way you can afford a cheap one good luck to whoever buys it - eventually.
Move this over to the Lamborghini section. Roy Cats & Joe Sackey could tell you more than you may want to know. There is no such thing as a "cheap exotic".
This car has been mentionned there too. How much more consulting do we need than from our official ball busting consultant Big Rick?
+1000000. Exactly! Imagine the phone calls and internet searching you must do in order to find a 1988 Countach seat adjuster, or a trunk latch! It could take months, if not years trying to put a clunker back together. You would probably spend $5,000 in FEDEX charges alone trying to get all the parts shipped to you.
Well if it has already been thoroughly discussed in the Lamborghini section. Why is it being kept alive here? Or is it the lure of a "cheap exotic" that has the uninitiated all excited. As the saying goes "A fool and his money is soon parted".
This car is priced reasonably for what it is...I have done a fair bit of research on this model/year Lambo...I will continue to keep a close eye on it....I have many US friends that are truly interested if I don't move on it. Ron Zeraldo I know the spelling of Countach not Countash!
Wow i spell one word wrong and i here about it forever.I bet there are a few people looking to buy this car.For what it is it will sell if not at 58 and tax then the next price drop it will go.It runs so someone will buy it like i said in a previous post at 50k i will buy it.You are rolling the dice whenever you buy a used car sometimes you buy well other times you don't.
Oh I dunno maybe because this is the Canadian section and it being here and all... I assure you it aint a big deal also having a local thread for the local guys to discuss
Hard to believe but the cdn government is advertising this car on Duponts registry. With all this exposure i think it will sell..
Saw the car in the flesh at Crown Assets and it needs work. Clutch slipping badly and it is billowing blue smoke on the driver's side. Bon chance everyone.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,How does the body look, i know there are stress cracks here and there , but overall what shape is it in? Thanks
The real issue with a car like that is that it is worth more in part than as a whole. Fixing a beater that has 83K miles will cost well over $100K . while this is ok for a lp400 it is not smart money for a QV injected. the market berely commands 100K for a top shape injected. The question is: do we have at least $58K + 20% in parts here?
pardon my ignorance, but what does this mean hst, for example $ 58k + hst =~65 , sorry i just have to ask.
HST is the sales tax in Ontario....Harmonized Sales Tax is the new term for it which combines the GST and the PST that was previously charged.
Thank you MD911 ,i do have another question, the quote for $75k for a total motor rebuild is confusing ,Is it the availability of piston rings, or crankshaft bearings, or all the bearings in the motor, can the crankshaft be cut , can bearings be made for it, can the cylinders be honed,or do the sleeves have to be replaced,? I still cannot see the 75,000 dollar amount in the motor rebuild, or is it the motor, transmission +Differential rebuild. I perhaps can understand with $100 dollar a hour labor to rebuild all of the above, now that will add up,plus removal and installation. Is that where the numbers come into play?
There are stress cracks but according to the guy I saw it with, "they were normal for this particular type of car". His words not mine. In all honesty, the car doesn't look as bad as the pictures.
