Twin Turbo 458 Italia from Underground Racing


Here are the first pictures of the Underground Racing Twin Turbo Ferrari 458 Italia. Ferrari did an incredible job with the 458 platform. We must say we greatly enjoyed driving this 458 Italia around a bit before it went under the knife.

Even though we were extremely impressed with the handling and all the other cool features of the 458, however, we knew there was something missing. Because my brother KC Howeth and I test drive Twin Turbo Lamborghinis and Twin Turbo F430's on a daily basis, we have certain expectations (however warped they may be!) when it comes to power and acceleration. So it was then time for the Underground Racing team to design a 458 Twin Turbo system. As the pictures below show, this is what we came up with.

We will have a Twin Turbo system with a stock engine as Stage 1. The built engine with Twin Turbo system will be stage 2. More photos and videos will be coming soon, along with the release of the performance numbers. Please follow http://www.UndergroundRacing.Com for updates and details.

Looks like another winner! Guys, Underground Racing's fabrication skills are second to none. They built my blk Gallardo and my current SuperLeggera, these cars perform like no other car I have ever driven and with zero drivabilty issues..

Epic, we need videos and some numbers! I wonder how this stacks up against a Gallardo.

 

How will the drivetrain handle all that power?

Because the glue that holds on the heat shields near the rear quarter panels may not be able to handle the increased heat produced by the twin turbos. Be careful and test rigorously before selling to your customers.

 

The guys from Underground Racing really do have some fantastic projects coming out of their North Carolina-based firm and their latest tuning project will surely match up to the newly-formed high expectations for the twin-turbo loving tuners. Most recently known for the lavish twin-turbo kits for the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, Underground Racing is in the process of slapping on another luscious turbo kit to a different kind of supercar: the Ferrari 458 Italia.

Details on the kit have not surfaced yet, but Underground Racing has provided these teaser images as a carrot-dangling attempt to lead us to their finishline. And it most definitely worked.

The Ferrari 458 Italia by Underground Racing will no doubt feature over 1000hp, since most of their other tuning projects boast of the same type of power, and will mean a horsepower amount that will almost double that of the standard 570hp. Not bad for a vehicle that Underground Racing readily admits is already fabulous in its own right.

Impressive, nice project, please post figures asap!

 

I'm sure the savvy techs at Underground know enough to check for the mechanical fastening of the shields. That issue was on the earliest cars, anyway. Ferrari has recalled and up-fitted all the affected models and the ones that did burn, the owners were issued new cars.

i was blessed with the opportunity to actually see this car in person, i can honestly say it was by far the most beautiful car i have ever laid my eyes on, it really took my breath away. the craftsmanship/ fabrication is second to none. if this 458 is anything like the 430 spider or 430 scud they have boosted "which i am sure it will be" it will break records and blow peoples minds......and you can still drive it to dinner and dancing.

 

now even more like the F40!

 

but with almost 3 times the power, half the price, and a radio!

 

Very very impressive!
