Bump for Tony K's great post :D
15 and 16????! An AMC Pacer and a Vega wagon, both with ground effect packages and a leaping Lizard badge on the front hold those positions. I'm not sure where the red 'thing' would fall into the pecking order.
"It's like having an important shareholder meeting at your bank and having a mariachi band come in with your Taco Bell dinner" Would beat the Hell out of any normal shareholder meeting; can't think f anything more boring, INCLUDING watching paint dry/grass grow. Mariachis would be great! As far as this thread - silly. Everyone just selects their car...after all, that's why they bought it - because that's the one they wanted!
There are dreams, there are wet-dreams and then there are NIGHTMARE's..... I think the red car is probably ...a coma.
Please allow me to toot my own horn... I've got a '78 GTS, kind of slow but I just installed euro/early cams so this should wake things up a bit (also been running an Electromotive DIS). I've got the sound of the Webers and hopefully the power of the QVs - or maybe more With the Electromotive I don't haven't had to mess around with points, condensers, advance, etc for over 10 years now. So now I have less mainenance like the i's and QV's. I have also painted a spare targa top to body color and modified the side louvers ala the GTB. I have also put on Vitaloni electric Turbo mirrors like the euro QV's Now if I couild just find a couple turbos, stretch the wheelbase a little, and turn the engine 90 degrees, I'd be all set This is just my creation. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm happy. Happy Holidays Henry
. 2-valve GTBi. At the bottom of the Pininfarina list we have the 2-valve injected cars, which, of course, have an actual horsepower output of only 150-160, when the intake scoop is force-fed with a leaf blower on a cool, foggy morning in April. Here is where the "I like the pure lines of the GTB" defense really shines. When you've got nothing else going for you, and you even have the less-popular body style, you can play this card, bolstered by comments from people with more expensive berlinettas (QVs and 328s), touting that they really know their stuff and have good taste. GTBi sneaks an undeserved extra place on the list! [The author of this work owns a GTBi, and is suspected to be showing favoritism, so rankings 9-10 are likewise suspect.] One thing I see missing from this description is the fact that Ferrari only made 494 of these wonderful machines between '80 and '82. So rarity does factor in this discussion. I believe it's around the same number of F-40 produced so it should be way at the top of this list.... How can you not love this car?? I'm with you on this. I've been told my car was worthless because it was an '80. Worthless because it was a two valve. Worthless because it was no longer all original. Worthless because the headers were not made by Tubi. Then told my wheels were worthless because they were made by some aftermarket company called FakeyDo. This site should be for help and support for Ferrari owners. Lets not start a pi$$ing contest. These cars are all great and full of history. We all bought what we wanted. I bought mine beacuse it was the best and cleanest I could find. I could have bought some thing else but I chose this one. I like it and it is mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Simply put 1. My Ferrari 2. All other Ferraris I can't think of a single 3x8 or Mondial I wouldn't love to add to my stable -Brian
On a serious note would be interesting to know how many of the 494 exist today. I would think a lot of these have been neglected or parted out for the other 308s. Proabably rarer by at least 25%.
I wonder if there's any way to check?
Thank you very much. I like it and have put 10 years of work in this thing. Labor of love for sure. I have way way more money in it than I will ever get back but this car is my hobby. Been redone from the ground up. Some times we need to have thick skin when the so called experts cut on your cars. Sure it is not the most wanted model by the 308 crowd but I like it. There is more to 308s than early Euro dry sump and QVs. I like them all. If I was to buy another one I'd still look for the nicest no matter what year it was. They are all great and a blast to drive. The body design is also an icon. Everyone knows it is a Ferrari.
