Lube up the vacuum cleaner bearings... There is sucking and dyno work to be done and guys on both coasts that plan to lap this brick multiple times in a given session.
If your intention is a 85000-9000 RPM motor, you will likely find the F355 velocity stacks either just fine or 10-15mm too long. It will be that close. But like anything else in racing engines, the length of the intake tract is actualy dependent on cam timing (second order--but necessary if you are looking for the last 5 HP) and even compression ratio (second-to-third order). Also note: The shape of the F355 'bells' are not optimal. See:: http://www.profblairandassociates.com/pdfs/RET_Bellmouth_Sept.pdf
Yup. Some 25 yrs ago when building 1 ltr. Sprite engines we were making full rolled edge stacks. Why Ferrari chose to stick with this shape is beyond me.
Bouncing around a bit but..... Food for thought. 1) Hummm, big cams and short belts? 2) Flaps, 10 degrees 3) The answer to a light weight valve train. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Go ahead......I double dog dare you. "Can you do that to mine?" ......your inbox will be full in no time with that picture you posted. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not the dreaded 'Double Dog Dare'! Flaps and valve train are already, or are in progress. I had no clue 90% of the studs on the block and sump lined up...... I wonder.....
And Plugz has a spare set of heads waiting to be snatched up. But I'll bet you have a bunch of those tucked away in that barn somewhere.
"NOW it was serious. A double-dog-dare. What else was there but a "triple dare you"? And then, the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare." :[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XlPwsmkPHI[/ame] I triple-dog-dare you!
A few sets... hell, a few sets for each engine I would bet, all with varying degree's of porting. This AM I was surprised to find 3 different intake manifolds/injector sets while searching for the flap actuators cylinders.... An inventory of the spares just might be in order when it warms up as I forgot about working a number of different intakes. I forgot I have the whole front end of a 355 burned engine, that has me intrigued. Plugzit.... don't buy any injectors if those on the engine don't suit your needs.
Where is your resolve???????????????? I was hoping you would start the New Year off right, maybe with a tattoo on your forehead that said "FOCUSED". Now you are falling for the ole double and triple dog dare.....you have two choices: 1. Grow up and ignore the clammor..stay focused and on course no matter what the crowd is yelling, or 2. Give in to the demands of the nay sayers and get a sugar daddy to bank roll that project. Maybe a trip to FL will get those wild hairs to lay down....especially if you put on some hairspray while cruising in a convertible.
(personal note to BCWAWright-Dave, do not read this!) Hey-we should encourage him, and when his brain explodes, we can "help" Kris "organize" the estate!
Something tells me I have a Double Agent in my employ... 1) Grow up? I tried that, didnt work, has no 'wings'.... and there is a DDD on the table 2) Send checks to.... Worst part is I just got off the phone with Raj and Sy. Raj says my brick doesnt stand a chance against the Sy/Raj LM project. I didnt think the bar could be raised further BUT.... once again I have been proven wrong. Predictions in excess of 600HP from the other side of the pond... Damn, Im going to need a bigger snorkel!
The mere suggestion would be enough for her to light the fuse and follow your lead on that garage sale. She says something 'has to go' soon after coming down from the loft looking for Christmas stuff. You been talking to her too???
Whaaaaattttt is going on out there?? How big do you want those holes? Are we gonna make this thing scream and need to have 4 guys pushing you outta the pits so you don't smoke the clutch?
You need some of these babies to ensure victory here and abroad. Good luck on her! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Abroad? Heck this looks like the perfect commuter car! Traffic down the ol 101 would not be a problem!
I know, I know....... But I do have the Big Block Chevy tall stack Hilborn intake set up with Lucas injection and a Vertex magneto for my McLaren CanAm Special project I started restoring 12... 15... oh hell, near 20 yrs ago. I sold Kris on that purchase when the kids were in Grade School as a great investment for their College fund, she has since wised up to most of my sales pitches. I am starting to get a strange liking of throwing Magneto sw's and shutting off fuel by red knob's....Maybe some strange subconscious thing about a want to return to a simpler time when EFI wasn't a requirement and Gold was something worn on a finger. It isn't much of a stretch to get those ports to match to that Hilborn setup.... Whoa! This is contagious... I found a 348 LM, 5 1/2" triple disc AP Racing clutch that should be a direct bolt on for my 5 1/2" Tilton clutch in the IMSA... we have spares for the replacement 6 spd now... oops, ignore that Plugzit. Some guys have "Fueling Crews", some have "Tire Crews"... cant recall anyone with "Push Start Crews". Check that, there was a June Enduro race at Road America with a manditory pit stop. I climbed out, jumped the wall, Dad poured a pitcher of ice water down the front of my drivers suit and I jumped back in.... all to find the old English lump went Chernobyl and wouldnt crank. "Push start!", up the pit lane hill with a bunch of ice cubes stuck in my crotch and a visor that would only remain fog free above 130 MPH. Still remember those damned ice cubes.... I turned my fastest lap ever at RA, unable to see a thing just for the want to get out of that damned suit as quick as possible! Yup, we have Push Start Crews, no need for torque under 7K RPM and a future use for the Cam blanks I forgot I had. Hell, this is starting to read like a B.S. Levy book.... Burt told me I was one of the chacters in LOR but wouldnt tell me who. Fiction? Err.. there is always a glimmer of truth behind most fiction novels I guess. Time to recoop!
