Guys were receptive on the phone and see to be trying to get me the information we need to get the title.

Nothing really. I started the process to file for a bonded title. It will be another 4-6 weeks before I'll have the bonded title and can start driving again.

Did you get my PM? I got yours and replied but it doesn't show in 'sent items' so I'm not sure?

I filed for a bonded title 4 weeks ago. I'm hoping to get the call from the title company any day now telling me that they have my paperwork ready. They said it would take 4-6 weeks. I need to get back on the road soon... this is getting really old. :(

Possible that the body shop never actually owned the car? The car may have been a customer car that they repaired, the customer never paid for & picked up, certain number of days expires, they can claim the car as theirs/abandoned/theirs by default through a mechanic's lien/whatever, then they just sold it to you.

Any chance of this being the possible scenario? That might explain why they don't have a dealer's license, but they think they can sell cars...

    Just suggesting...

Nope, not a possibility at all. We know the full history of the car. I'm now the title holder and if anyone wanted to contest my legal ownership, they would have to do it in court. This guy isn't that stupid.

Yes, I now have a bonded, rebuilt title. The car originally had a salvaged title which made everything WAY more difficult. I love everything about the car. It's given me just a little bit of trouble but I'm learning more about it each time I need to fix something. :)
I have a new job at a automotive shop, so I'm picking up on a lot of stuff... thanks to a couple of other FChatters.
