95 355 - Im bored with the car (read thinking switching for 430 or CS), had it for just under one year. Car is bone stock, what have been your drivers seat impressions when you have changed to a much louder sport exhaust?

Don't get me wrong I love the car however I usually keep F cars for 1 year then switch, however I'm thinking perhaps I haven't gotten the proper 355 experience.

    Thanks -

True F1 sound with the right exhaust combo. I have a Tubi and straight pipes on my 1995 355 Spider. Above 5k RPM the beast comes alive and even spits fire out the tail pipes during gear changes! Best sounding Ferrari for any price. I am sure others here have their opinions as well.

Thanks - did you go from stock to that set up? Looking for impressions from before or after, Im already second guessing my decision to sell.

    Thanks for the input :)

If your bored now after such a short time, the f355 is not for you. Time to move on maybe.
Does not matter what after market system you put on it, if your out of love then its over.
Its like having a girl who after a short time you are bored with because there is no majic any more. And just because she may buy a new set of tits to get you interested again. She will still have the same chasis and face that you were bored with in the first place, though other guys would appreciate her in a hart beat:)
Go for the CS, she is fat and not as attractive but has a nice personality:D

    I'd, too, say move on.

Get a 458 and be entertained for a bit longer.

I found that the exhaust changes provide a more expected Ferrari auditory experience. You might check the 2005 430 with the sport exhaust option. Quite nice. My friend Tony has one and it is very interesting.

For me the change brought a renewed dedication to the car, not that I was interested in selling it. It just gave a more enjoyable tonal quality across its rpm range and has been a source of admiration from those who like such things. Not exactly talking about the local constabulary here or the bitty down the street. :)

As for the car, either you like it or you don't. The exhaust change is going to enhance the experience, but not change your mindset about owning the car. If it's your inevitable path to swap it out for something else, don't bother with the expense of enhancing parts. Just find the car that moves you and buy it instead.

I agree that just an exhaust might not change your mind, but then again the right exhaust just might do it. Here is my suggestion:

Pair it with headers and test pipes, and the extra grunt might help.

If not, step up to a CS (much more fun than a 430 IMO).

I went from stock to a Quicksilver SuperSports (the loudest one they make) and it made driving the car more fun because of the sound. :)

    Vroom! Vroom! :)

I upgraded my exhaust one piece at a time and the sound/power improved at each level:
#1 Tubi Muffler (beautiful whine at rpm)
#2 Tubi Headers (2 yrs later) (got rid of cracked stock headers…pop-hiss!)
#3 Hyperflow Cats (1 yr later) (added a great growl at idle and yes, power increase)
#4 Have an engine out this year and am putting on the new Tubi Evo.

I'm not into race pipes, reversing the vacuum for a Capristo BPV, deleting the 2nd Cats.
I have never seen a check engine light, no major issues, or excess heat.
This is a 47K car too!

had a stock 355, but it was def not the awesome sound i kept reading about here. so on went tubi headers and a capristo L3 muffler (hyperflows were already on the car when i bought it). i put the headers on first, and 1 month later the muffler.

    just with hyperflow: no biggie
hyperflow + tubi headers: no biggie
hyperflow + tubi headers + muffler: BIGGIE!

the muffler makes the difference. different animal now. way, way better sound. if i had sold my 355 without getting the muffler, i would have felt cheated of the 355 experience.

Exhaust and some personalization make a huge difference. I also looked at the CS / 430 scenario. Nevertheless, the consistent price fluctuation in the CS / 430 market allowed me to consider keeping the 355 and purchasing a 01 Euro Spider.

My cars are driven, so the " euro stigma " did not have a negative impact. Paid 77K for the car 3K for full service, 1.5K Challenge Grill and my cost to fly to Vegas to pick up the car.

For about 82K I ended up with a 13,000 Serviced , Manual 6 speed, Tubi, 19" HREs'. The current 355 market positions my car in the 47 - 50 K price range. In this scenario I have 2 cars for $132 K or roughly the equivalent of a good CS or 430.

Maybe an option for some of " us " that are on the 430 / CS bubble.

While an argument can be made about double cost ( insurance, maintenance, depreciation, etc. ) you can drive 30,000 miles for less than the current ratio of depreciation of the 430s.

BUY THEM and DRIVE THEM !
