http://blogs.forbes.com/clareoconnor/2011/01/13/is-this-the-worlds-first-billion-dollar-yacht-photos/?boxes=HomepageSpecialStorySection I like the idea, doesn't seem possible though, but the ideas are limitless, streets of New York, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Singapore, etc. Plus, how the hell do you play tennis? http://blogs-images.forbes.com/clareoconnor/files/2011/01/Monaco-exterior.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login
Somalians can rob it and live on it without getting caught for a while..even spend the money at the casino!
Wow that thing is ugly. I never understood the purpose of owning a yacht...maybe as a corporate thing, but not private. I would much rather fly to a city and stay at their best hotel than slowly go by ship (or fly to the ship where it's docked). Pelorus is pretty cool, though. Lots of toys on that one.
If you do a burnout heading towards the stern, does the boat automatically speed up? Physics says it should...
Honestly isnt it a bit early for 1 April.....seriously though this thing is just too much, too big, too ridiculous....
Hey, I used to have one of those! Then again I was asleep... If someone actually builds something like that for themselves they need their head examined. That's a bit too much.
I'm not a structural engineer, but I seriously doubt that a non-welded structure will stay upright on top of a moving boat. I don't think that you can build a brick/stone hotel, paved roads, or anything else for that matter...on top of a boat deck. As the boat shifts and sways with the ocean, chances are everything would crack and crumble down eventually. Its an engineers nightmare!
A chopper on the yacht isn't baller enough anymore Edit: So... Someone has to take the helicopter for a spin if you want to play tennis? That's clever.
My dad's a retired structural engineer. I'll try to remember to ask him next time I catch him on the phone. All the best, Andrew.
If it's built, then it confirms that money doesn't buy taste... this thing is freaking ugly. And to keep the top half of the (floating city??) as light as possible to ensure best stability, they will have to build all those building using figer glass and plastic for exterior and structure as much as possible... So, looking at it upclose, if it's ever built, might not be so impressive. Fake stone isn't a real stone and the different will show. The same goes for other material... Why don't just build a mini aircraft carrier just for fun instead of this thing???
I give them my respect for dreaming it up, but that doesn't mean it should be made. I'd go for one of these two, aircraft carriers are too purpose heavy to their name IMHO... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
