At the end of January the wife has business in Dallas and we will be there for 5-6 Days. A good amount of the time I will have my 18 month old daughter in tow, as I get babysitting duties while the wife is occupied with business, so family/toddler friendly is a must. I plan on a trip to Dealy Plaza, but aside from that I'm a little lost. Are there any restaurants, or other attractions that are considered Dallas/Ft Worth institutions that I should not miss? We will be staying at the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities but I have a rental car so transportation is not an issue/problem.

If you would like to drive for a bit, visit the Stockyards in Fort Worth. Very neat area.
Also, the Dallas World Aquarium is worth a visit.

    Don't forget your local F-car store :)

I'm sure I can scrounge up some Ferrari gear for the kiddo.

You are close to Highland Park Village, which has several good restaurants, and you could take a drive through SMU another mile away.

Dallas has a great museum district on the NE side of Downtown, and on a nice day the Nasher Sculpture garden is fun to walk around. Several other museums, and new Opera / perfoming arts center worth seeing in that area too.

For great restaurants, just take the kiddo there early, and you should be fine.

In Highland Park Village, Mi Cocina ( upscale Mexican fare with great scenery) Cafe Pacific, and Patrisio's are all good.

With walking distance of your hotel is Cafe Expresso in Preston Center, very good.

Nick and Sam's for great steak and seafood.
For Pizza and Italian with a lot of history, go to Campisi's on Mockingbird Lane near SMU.
On Henderson near Hwy 75/ Central Expressway The Porch, Victor Tango, and Hibiscus are good.
All the Neighborhood Services locations are good, but very popular.

That's just a few of many spots to try. I'm within a mile of your hotel, if you need to get away from the family for a blast up the tollroad.

Not sure if your into this or not but free tour and I find interesting is the Bureau of Engraving & Printing...only 1 of 2 in the country....you guessed it, the place they print the greenbacks! Blows my mind to stand in a building that is holding Billions of our money at any given time. Located off 35W, website is moneyfactory.com

    +1

Went a few years back. Pretty interesting. They also have a neat souvenir shop, with sheets of uncut dollar bills among other things.
