The build # or sequence # is located under a tab on the frame rail near the expansion tank, it is stamped there along with the original color of the car. if you check out Kare thread about teh 308 sequence #'s he goes into it in detail Wade
I always thought that was a weird spot on my car where some of the black paint peeled off. Now, I see the number 48. Thanks!
Ok, maybe I'm nuts, but when I went to the qv registry page and clicked on the gts it said 41701 was the first 308qv. Uh, hmmm, if that's right (not saying it's not) then where does my 83 gts qv 41695 leave us? I am confused. It's still for sale if somebody wants it by the way...take it for 23 BJ
Well all of the documentation I have ever been presented has always said that 41701 was the first GTS and 42809 was the first GTB. This certainly disputes all of the docs I have seen in the past. Can you send me a picture of both the door jam plate and the right rear upper frame rail where the vin is, also the build # Wade

Ive gotten most of the answers on the serial numbers paradox, will post when I have enough info, seems there were 3 qv's prior to the FNA and Factory documents stating 41701 was the first. 1 prototype and two pre production models. hmmmmmmm, Wade
Havent found the one under the car yet. I looked last night, not a real strong flashlight though and possibly covered in dirt/grease so it might not be easy to find. Is there any way to know exactly where this is? I know its the right rear area somewhere. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the info -some pics of this car inthe 1983 list qv register .Note it also has an unusual red dash .The car now resides in New Zealand .

Sorry to re-surrect an old thread but................... Wade's QV register shows the following: Serial # 41487 - 1st Pre-production QV # 41695- 2nd Pre-production QV # 41701- 1st production QV I've just had come into my possesion the original books for serial#41465......... a red 1983 GTSi QV.....shows the car was sold new in Seattle by Grand Prix Motors and delivered to 1st owner on 2 June 1983! Mileage reading was 287! Wade? Anyone??? Is this car still around? I believe it was in an accident at some point and may have been written off? P
