Well, the McLaren F1 and Enzo say different. And, I think the Ford GT has a chance. But, I do agree with you 99.99% of the time.
Concentrations of wealth will always bring concentrations of things wealthy people buy, so seeing x # of x means nothing. Porsche make more vehicles in two months than Ferrari make all year, so your notion that Ferrari are some kind of mass producer of goods is wrong.
It wasn't designed for you, Jedi. Neither was the 612. Would I buy one? No. It's not for me either. But, if I were looking at a Bentley or RR or Merc AMG, I'd definately look here first. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but I think it's better looking than the 612. It's certainly more aggressive and unique. I still think the best looking GT on the market now is the Maserati Granturismo. But, the interior seems too American and cushy for my taste. And, it doesn't have this car's power or transmission. Does that mean it's a failure because another car looks better? No. It's only one factor in someone's buying decision. The Porsche Panamera wasn't designed for me either. Personally, I think its hideous. But, to Porsche lovers, they probably like the look. It's no different here. The car was designed for a purpose and a particular customer. For the 400 cars a year Ferrari is going to build of the FF, that's exactly what they wanted.
I think Maserati SHOULD make an SUV. Hopefully, one that fits the Maserati mold. If BMW and Mercedes and Porsche can make one, why shouldn't Maserati? Is there some kind of hidden code sent down from heaven that says it can't be done?
Wasn't this car one of Enzo's favorite cars. Did he not say something to the affect of the most beautiful car ever made. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The E-type convertible has always been a design masterpiece to me. But the coupe... Too tall. Ankward proportions.
.............Ugly............ It seems to be a high quality BMW...... What will be the next one? An allroad car like cayenne or a truc? With this car, Ferrari goes in the bad way!
I wonder if they know that 151 is Rum, also... The wheels look complicatedly designed. Looks like there was allot of time in making this design. "No! Five points!" "Are you crazy?!" "Make it so."
Ferrari says on press conference this: ".....A decisive break with the past......" Sad, very sad. The past???? Wich is the problem with the ferrari past?? It`s necessary to be sorry for something of the Ferrari past??? Regards
I actually like it. A practical Ferrari?? I also liked the dorky, clown shoe BMW Z3 coupe and feel the FF is better looking.
Bottom line, this is the first in-house Ferrari design, sans Pininfarina, so they needed to hit a home run or at least come up with an equal design. I think the reaction so far is a huge fail! Normally I would say wait to see it in person. Sometimes Ferraris look totally different in person versus pictures. But in this case I can't see it fixing that sideview, it literally looks like there was a change in the design team in the middle of the design exercise
I'm trying to keep an open mind here, but I just can't get past the hideousness of everything from the C pillar back. For the record, I wasn't crazy about the Cali, but I didn't bash it- it has certain angles that are attractive, and with the hardtop vert layout, I could see it selling well and bringing new buyers, daily drivers, and additional money to the marque. This FF looks OK only from the front, probably because the headlights are reminiscent of the 458, but otherwise, it really is ugly. I have to like at least three out of five sides to like a car: Front, front 3/4, side, rear 3/4 and rear. Say a Panamera- I like 3 out of 5 of these, so it earns a passing grade. FF is ugly from the back, ugly from the rear three quarter view, ugly from the side (too many and incongruent character lines), and pretty from the front (might look good in the front 3/4 view- haven't seen that angle yet). So, with a generous 2 out of 5, it fails for me. It is ridiculous to say that this car doesn't appeal to some because they can't afford it or because it looks good compared to it's competition. Ugly is ugly regardless of your income, and if you can afford this, you will probably run to your nearest Aston dealer and get a Rapide (which is more practical with four doors), a Bentley GT (which is prettier), a Rolls Coupe (which has more cachet) or a Rolls Convertible (which you can drop the top). This car will be a big fail sales wise, unfortunately, which will lead to a lower budget for future projects, unlike the Cayenne and the Panamera, which are cash cows for Porsche and help to develop the sports cars. All in all, bad for the marque.
