Tire deformation in photo #3 is massive! Notice how the logo is bent. Perhaps the big slip angles are what Perelli wants and we will see tire stops play a bigger part in race strategy.
Car seems to be a LOT shorter than the RB7...or is that just trickery because the RB7 still has the shark fin cover? Must say, the F150 is a looker (compared to the 2009/2010 cars)
Really? I think the total opposite. F60 I liked, F10 was okay. This F150 is my least favorite. I like the back half a lot, but the super high nosed front is not to my taste.
FA stated earlier today it is too soon to make any comparisons about F150 vs any other. Rightfully stated. He and every other driver has a ton to learn about these new setups and gadgets. Massa is usually more vocal about what his car is doing and look forward to his commentary tomorrow evening. I'm guessing they're doing just fine though.
Its not really Alonso behind the wheel of the F150. M. Schumacher is actually driving the car from his MB Mobile suite via remote control.
It's actually an anemometer measuring air flow and wind speed/direction. The telemetry antenna is mounted on the nose. Cheers, Ian
Ian, this is the first time I've heard that called an anemometer but I suppose it is a tube anemometer? What'r in the pictures are pitot tubes to me. When I think of an anemometer I think of the spinning wheel outside the weather man's office. As far as I can tell they're most likely placed so high on the car to get reference pressure/velocity.
Indeed. They used the same thing in testing last year - The "classic" pitot/static tube setup known and loved by aircraft folks. +1 Cheers, Ian
No it's not. As an effort to be more green, F1 cars in 2014 will run on electricity, and that thing on top is what will hook up to the powerlines like bumper cars at the amusement park.
I bet Public Transport Team Arnhem (Netherlands) will win the 2014 F1 championship. They have been practicing since 1949 And the best thing is, they bring along their mechanics, spares and tools during the race so they don't have to go back to the pits to change tires.
