    38K miles, Salvage title at auction. Hard to believe that this type damage would not be able to be repaired, and still have a 355B worth owning.

    tough calculation. Assume $20K acquisition. $20K repairs (??) $10K major --- you end up at $50K for a salvage title vehicle.

    Just doesnt add up. SHAME.

    No really worth it in my opinion ... once you are set and done you are around 50K for a salvage ?

    I have been following these car since Oct of 2010. The title issue was just resolved and the insurance Co. is ready to sell it. Back in Nov when the vehicle came up for sale (or expected sale date) I sent an inspector, a car guy to inspect it for me. Paid him $200.00 but he knew nothing about 355s. I had to run him over the phone on what to look for and how he can tell whats damaged. Here's what I found out and there is a good reason why the car was totaled. The whole rear end is bent towards the right. If you look at the right q-panel, you can see the inward large dent in front of the rear tire. This is due to the rear section of the frame being bent when it was hit in teh left rear corner. For those who have not seen the whole frame areas on these cars, the bumper is mounted on the rear square tube frame, this frame section is welded to the frame rails that run under the quarter panels and become part of the firewall and the main chassie. Its not as severe as other 355 with front or rear damage but the parts add up. Bmpr 1500, grill 1000, lights 1200, inner structure 1200, q-panel 1000, may need tires 800. Adds up to approximately 7k and I always lease 2K for unknown damages. Labor about 6K and service modest 6K totaling 20K. Salvage 1995 355 is not worth 40K. Maybe 32-35 K depending on condition. I have some parts for it and am anxious to see how much it goes for. LAst time it was above 22 mark. too much for this car.

    Unless you have access to parts at wholesale and slave labor, salvaged Ferraris rarely make sense for a real buyer. Some pretender will buy it, use a "come along" to kind of get things straight, add 30 pounds of bondo, and some paint. And, kaboom it's good as new.

    You make sens totally, but, this is not a Toyota or Nissan for across the boarder taxi service. I have had about 6 Salvage title ferraries. Ferrari buyers know their way around these cars and are not going to spend 35-40 K on salvage Ferrari buying a bondo. Personally, my cars all get rebuild with OEM parts at no expense spared. Bondo on a Ferrari is not going to sell unless the buyers eight site is really bad. Remember "Dumb and Dumber?" where they sell the kid the dead bird and the kid has no way of telling why the bird wont sing or fly? Exactly :) I know its sad :)

    Cars are just a bunch or parts... and when damaged those parts can be replaced and the car made new again.

    But, and this is a big but, the value of said car will never be the same as it was prior to the accident. Part of the value of our Ferrari's are that they are not normal cars and are held to higher standards.

    "Someone would have to be nutz to pay more than $15K for this car. By the time they are done, they'll have a salvage car for the price that they'd pay for a clean title car"

    I'd say it's worth at least $15k. You could get that in parts easily IMO.

    That damage easily got onto the engine cradle and the related frame work on the body structure. Finding a new cradle would be difficult and not cheap, they were 5000.00 ten years ago. With all the other parts needed and the labor all bet you have 30,000.00 in total costs and on top of that what's the value of a savage title Ferrari. Would any of you buy it after it was repaired?
