"Carbureted 308s and F355 Berlinettas (especially the 1995, 2.7) will be THE non-special edition modern Ferrari collectibles." paraphrased from Dave Helms. When Dave Helms speaks, I listen.....

There wasnt a single post saying 355 prices were dropping like a rock (anymore). What was said is they arent going back up.

    Those are very different things.

As far as 'the people posting here how 355 prices are dropping like a rock are the guys hoping to buy one someday.' I bought one 6 years ago...

Well we could all conspire to bring the prices up. Let's get a big list of 355 owners together and all list our cars on ebay and autotrader at the same time at 50% over retail. :)

LOL Some mates of mine here in the UK tried that two years ago. They put all 7 of there Challenge Stradale up for sale at the same time at very inflated prices in various advertising media. They did it to try to manipulate UK CS prices as a joke to see what happened:D True story, there Club Scud forum members.

I'm game. We could all post on ferrari ads. I'm afraid that even if I put my car up for 85k, I'd get some interest. After all, how many 2.7 GTS exist in white? One! :)

I think as cars get faster and more technically sophisticated the older ones become a sort throwback... I doubt they will increase much in value if at all, as long as the newer cars continue to keep depreciating. I know we love them but it is above all a car. Unfortunately once you start to get into a certain price point you can buy other cars, should I say newer cars. This is a world of look at me I have a big swinging penis. I am the ****!!! You are not the **** driving last years model you are just some guy who is not driving this years model!! You want to be banging the hottest youngest chick in the club!! Not the haggard one everyone has been on. Unfortunately I see the youth of this world wanting the latest and greatest, they do not care about the past and could not give a damn. Old Ferrari's to some have become well just old.....

    Sadly

Sorry if some of the comments offend. I did not mean to.

Well said, Gerry. The F355s in awesome condition are rare and in the hands of very meticulous owners (many on this board) - and aren't going to be up for sale anytime soon. To find a true gem that needs nothing is rare and takes a lot of hunting and patience. Most of the cars out there are going to need $10-20k from their next owner to make them right.

If someone offered me $100k for mine right now...I'd think long and hard about it but would turn it down. I know I would regret that decision *forever*.

I know it sounds a little corny but I tell people that "I'll be buried in this car." One way or another - maintenance costs, high-speed accident or natural causes - I think it'll actually turn out that way. lol.

Thanks and I too will never sell my car. The joy I get from driving this car and when I say "drive" I mean drive the car not tool around town, is just amazing. Unfortunately many owners never experience this because of the reasons I mentioned in my last post. Its too bad but then there are not that many "real" drivers of these cars as many have never felt the rev limiter and if they did they would probably think the car had fouled plugs. :)

Never is a long time. I never divorce my wife, I may disown my children, but I will sell my car, especially if I lost my job.

The youth of today hardly drive any Ferraris as they dont even care to work. As for the "youngest hottest chicks in the club" well they dont even know the differance between a dino and a 430 so now tell me why you would want the latest, fastest car. Oh yea....so you can tell your buddies what you own. Anyone can own. The question is, can you appreciate it and that goes for women as well as fine cars? I have a feeling that you are one that cant and also one that "pops his clutch" really fast. :)

Sorry but even if I lost my job......The car would stay simply because I would have even more time to drive it. Three things in life a worth driving hard and straight, a Ferrari, a Titleist and a beautiful wife. Many times all in the same day.;) Those that are worrried about what their car is worth are not "real drivers" of these machines. I couldnt give two craps if the cars were worth 5 cents. The price dosnt make the car better or worse. Like I said months ago in here on another thread, the majority of posters here are NOT owners and they are the ones bad mouthing the 355 as they hope the care comes down to 10gs so they can buy. Even if it did, they still wouldnt buy because they are mostly talk and cars like these scare the bejesus out of them. Many owners in here would be surprised beyond belief if they could all see the other side on these screens.

Well I'm not selling but I seriously doubt we will see ANY appreciation in prices for another 10 years. 30 yrs is sort of the magic number when used old cars become "Classics", as you get close to 50 years they are "Vintage". I recall all sorts of disparaging remarks about early 70's Ferraris when i used to race Alfas in the 80s...Those guys were DEAD wrong.

The oldest 355 is now 16 years old- so at least another decade until they really begin to appreciate in my opinion.

The good news for future values is the 355 is the IT car from this era- The car that saved Ferrari- the best looking, best performing, most beloved car of it's day. Look where 308/328 values are now- almost at 355 levels- because they look great, were the "IT" car of their day and they are really archaic- in a good way- that makes them feel very classic. Same for air cooled 911s- my 88 Carrera does NOTHING better than my 02 Cab- but it's cool.

The cars that "Non Ferrari" people do not like- the 308 GT4, the 400/412, the Mondial- those cars will always lag behind... but the desirable cars will ALWAYS appreciate...eventually.

Who cares- I'm driving the wheels off of my car- by the time it's worth some money it'll be a smoldering wreck...and all that will be left will be the smile on my face.

355 is a great driver just enjoy it. I think that 308's will go up as they no longer look like new models most of all the interior.

I have a red/tan 355 Spider and it has about every add-on you can think of. It absolutely steals the show wherever it goes.

As to value, I can easily see the 355 passing the 360. There just is not that much difference in speed, and the looks and engine wail are much better. Would I take a 430 or 458? Sure. But a $100k value for 355s someday will not surprise me. They were right there before the recession.

What really cracks me up is the Berlinetta guys who rag on the convertible owners. Really! all we do is pose with our cars huh! Oh, like all the B and T owners do is track their cars! And yes I sport quite a chubbie when the top is down on a sunny day and you can hear that magnificent roar behind you. "When the top goes down, the price goes up."

I laugh out loud at this thread. I can't get enough of this type of debate. My only question is. ..........Are 355 values going up?
