Which is exactly what you are guilty of committing here, baiting me into a childish grudge match....at least you were up front with the officer, whereas you show zero respect for my opinion with your "veiled" insult. You may think I'm low, but I'm not stupid. Oh, and your only other post in this thread was....oh nevermind
Chad, I whole-heartedly apologized to you. I re-read my post, and you are right, I did not mean to make a veiled insult in your direction. You post #37 was spot dead on the way I feel too. I was attempting to chastise texasmr2 for engaging in the 'childish' behavior of arguing the points you made that really are valid...and then threatening you if you happen into his neck of the woods. I especially liked that you pointed out that his statement 'Ignorance of ther Law is not an excuse' "gives enforcers of any law a blank check to release themselves of any need to defend the law itself of reasonableness, constitutionality (muni, state, or Federal), or morality." Cops are people too. I wish they'd just apply more logic to their job. True, they are human & make mistakes (don't we all?) & they are "just the messenger" when they are enforcing laws that THEY did not write, but, again, they need to have some common sense. I think what prevents them there is that their job holds them to quotas they have to maintain. I can't blame the cop there, but I can blame their superiors for setting these quotas. the cops job should be about focusing on the correct "bad guys" instead. dream34 also makes valid points that texasmr2 is probably just trying to learn how to wear his new role as a LEO & we should give him some time to mature...and learn the truth behind the "Adam-12" quote about "the car being the only part of their job that's black & white". If law enforcement was REALLY about protecting the public, then the fine aspect (constantly hitting 'offenders' up only for more money) could easily be removed from the law enforcement equation...but we all know the government bodies will NEVER do that. There are other ways to enforce w/o it always being about money...BUT, as I have stated before: Law enforcement is nothing more than a FOR PROFIT business. Always has been, always will be. Again, Chad. I am sorry for "going there" in your direction. I do not know you so there is zero way that I could think that you are "low"...& even if I did know you, I would not think that of you...unless you were a drug dealer/ elected politician/ wife beater/ child molester/ etc...
My goodness, I apologize as well. The 'net can be so difficult to "read" sometimes. Yay, we can be friends! LOL about the elected politician part - I wouldn't mind it, but I'm a Libertarian, so I'd never get elected anyway. Well, maybe in Ron Paul's district. I really, really, hope nobody holds any ill will toward the officer here either. I have enormous respect for the crap they have to put up with every day, I just don't want them to be robots.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind being a money-grubbing, mistress keeping (or proposition men in the bathroom), lying, back-stabbing, "money for nothing & your checks for free", scum-bag too...but unfortunately I was born with a conscience. I think their problem is that elected officials enter a field of public service as a means to further their own personal agendas! "Working for the people" to "help yourself"...therein lies the real issue. I can respect the crap cops have to deal with too, but for crying out loud, learn who is a real bad guy & who isn't...then treat accordingly. Examples: Guy w/o a front plate = who cares? Guy doing 90mph (racing) in a school zone = never mind a fine, take his car away. Guy leaving Valentine's Day dinner with his sweetie that has a faint odor of wine on his breath = just make sure he can make it home. Guy driving 120mph on the highway...at three in the morning...going the wrong way...with his headlights off = a good "roughing-up" & some prison time. YMMV...
Agree. Now, I'm not one to pick anecdotes and create "natural laws" out of them, but this seems indicative: http://encinitas.patch.com/articles/think-before-you-decide-to-california-roll
My favorite part: "...until the deputy pulled out his ace card. He simply denied that he had been behind those palm trees, changed his story a bit, and said..." Yeah, they can change their story, the defendant cannot. Here the lesson learned: Just get a good Valentine One & then try to avoid as much other detection in traffic as you can in order to avoid being forced to contribute $$$ to the shake-down racket game they like to play...
Hey! "Elected politicians" need loved, too. My M5 doesn't have a front plate. Never has had one. The rear plate says "State Judge" though. DRG
Well, I had that attitude, for a long time... BUT you might want to check the new rules. Aside from the lingering costs you pay on insurance coverage (for three years) for these offenses, Texas has started tracking it in a "Points System" and before long you'll pay the State for the priveledge of License renewal. As far as alcohol goes they have Federal Money now and inmy experience it has tightened to pretty much "zero tolerance" in the field. Ya'll realize texasmr2 is a newly minted LEO, and so there that is..(and a really nice guy he pushed my old Ferrari up and down the road at the Ranch until it started just for the adventure, or something like that!!)
:apply's brakes: Hold on there, partner. There isn't such a thing as "Federal" money. Without getting into the naunces of the Federal Reserve being a private banking cartel which (poorly) controls our currency, and the Mandrake mechanism in the form of Federal gov't borrowing in order to create more bills of credit as a medium of exchange - the other side of the equation is taxes. Taxes paid by us, that in some cases, go through the state, to the Federal gov't, get skimmed for "overhead" and redistributed back to the states in the form of "aid" (grants and loans). So, there is NOTHING the Federal gov't can give to us, or the states, which it has not already TAKEN FROM us. This is merely a form of chicanery in order to make us think that the Fed is a provider, nanny, daddy, whatever. WE are the one's that create the wealth in the first place that is redistributed back to us after the ever growing and out of control gov't gets its grubby hands on it. Theft is theft and that's all it is. Support your state(s) by supporting those in your legislature(s) to nullify unConstitutional Federal laws and reinvigorate your fellow citizens to support 10th amendment rights.
I meant it's some kind of DWI enforcement thing (of course it's our money! LOL!) It paying weekend overtime to local cities and behind a lot of this random stop roadblock action. It takes a lot of officers to stop EVERY car to avoid the 'profiling' rap. Also be aware there's Judges on the team to allow an instant warrant for a blood draw. It isn't like the past where you could refuse the blow, smile for the movie and hope for a good defense. A missing front plate isn't a moving violation, I realized after that post above, but it can lead to further "lifestyle scrutiny" like the guy with pounds of coke in his pants...
This topic pops up from time to time on forums. It would be nice but I don't think it will ever happen.
From another forum post: >>>the owner of the tattoo shop i work at just got a ticket for this (no front plate) not to long ago and on his way to court he notices a brand new gt500 with no front plate, turns out the gt500 was the DA's car.......... hmmmmmm<<< Funny how that is....
