Hello all, I just aquired a 97 355GTS , I had been looking for a B for a long time and this car was way to nice to pass up. Does anyone know how many GTS's were made as I never paid much attention to them and its really starting to grow on me. I will post pics soon! Thanks Anthony
My number agrees with Rick's: There were 2,577 produced, of which 2,048 had the standard 6-speed gearbox and 529 had the F1 transmission. Mine is a 1999 GTS F1, and I love it! Doug
Fantastic to hear Doug! They didnt make too many F1's. When you narrow it done to colour specific, I would imagine some colour combo's would be quite rare. I dont think I have ever seen a 355 GTS F1 in yellow/black. Definitely none here in Oz in RHD. There is currently a red 355 GTS F1 in red/tan for sale. They would be rare also, there wouldnt be too many made in RHD worldwide in F1. The majority of the 529 cars would be LHD. Still commanding big bucks too. AU $195K. http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=4&R=9530370&keywords=&trecs=18&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Price_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__sid=12D6A2F69D71&__Nne=15&__Qpb=true&seot=1&__N=834 1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294966369 4294966380&silo=1011
I would love to see production by year and region. By the numbers there are more B's than Spiders but there are 20 spiders for sale for every B. I'll start a rumor and say that less than 500 GTS's were brought to the states and less than 100 of those were 99's, LOL
Lol, would be a lot less than 500 cars there wouldnt it? The US market is the biggest, and the UK market next. So there would be a few hundred GTS's in the US, another hundred or so in the UK I reckon. And the rest of the world get the last hundred or so. Well, thats my guess anyways.
Yes but there must be preferences as well? We can't assume that cars were evenly distributed based on market size. It's entirely possible that 80% of spiders came to the us and 80% of B's went to the UK, no? I would think that Ferrari would just fill orders rather than having equally forced distribution. It just seems odd to me. Many people say that spiders are preferred but there are always far more spiders on the market (in the us) than any other. A bit contradictory I would say.
When I purchased my car from FOS (Ferrari of Seattle) one of the technicians told me less than 10 of this configuration were brought into the USA. Would be nice to confirm this. Has anyone had any luck contacting the factory for the actual number by year and option types? If not, any idea how to contact them and which department to contact? Thanks. I had a 1995 F355 GTS Yellow/Black in Munich Germany from 2000 to 2009 or so. Pictures of it are around here somewhere.
