    hi guys

yet, I have doubt if my 348 is gen 1 (300hp) or gen3 (320hp) engine

today, my 40.000 km´s service is near finish, (by myself) and now I know all parts of the engine exaclty

    -plastic timing covers
    -valeo single disc clutch
    -denso alternator
    -denso starter motor

I have lot off pic´s with the engine open if you want

    somebody know what gen is?

    thanks !

If you own a 348 TS, then you may have a "gen 1" engine mate with 300HP. :D:D

The later cars, the 348 GTS has 320HP. From 1993 to 1994. :D:D

    thanks pap !

but this is my problem, for this reason I have several doubts, I don´t know what is my car body

the first document is in germany, march 1992

    but

my front grill is out whit crome horse

the rear grill have crome horse too

I can see the horses are originals in my opinion, I don´t see the horses are intall after

the radio antenna is in to the glass, not in the roof

and the engine is this (last post)

one year ago I changed the rear bumper for other new (for small knock) and in the old bumper I scraped under the paint (buttom zone) and under the paint red is primer white, no black paint

the engine block say 119G040 (I have pic)

but in mi engine cover say TS :(

exist other parts to diference ?

    thanks

Cheers lads for the pics. :):)

As I suspected, you have the 300 HP model. :D:D

The later cars, the 348 GTS and GTB from 93-94 have the taller plenum and 320 HP. :D:D

I bolted on an XOST on my car and it gave me an extra 18.8 HP. So my car now has 318.8 HP. ;);)

Here is the related link if you want to have a look. :D:D

That is the 348H engine intake manifold. was not brought into the US.

What you call the GEN2 is the 348ts/tb with the 348 spider specifications. the hp change was mostly done with the exhaust. These cars were either the Speciale version or 94 my.

here are the two exhaust types, you can see the hp improvement just in the plumbing.

Yeah mate, only in the later cars of course. :):)

The GTB and GTS. They are rare here in Oz. :):)

The Spiders also came here in 93 and 94 with the taller plenums. :):)

Currently a GTS and 2 Spiders for sale in Oz with the larger plenums shown in their engine bay pics. :D:D

Interesting. did not know what markets had that upgrade.

We upgraded our FNA demo Challenge car with the H engine improvements and that was the only one we saw here.

Yeah, the Aussie cars are pretty much like the Euro cars. :D:D

Hence the same upgrades in the later cars. :D:D

Jim, in a car as decidedly low-tech as the 348, was the 20bhp really noticeable, or was it through gearing and weight reduction that the real gains could be found? Dumping the boat anchor twin-can muffler and lightening the wheels for example, seem like they could be almost as effective (if not more?) than a tall plenum. Thoughts?

    oh fail :( only 300hp, now I don´t want it :(

    haha :D :D

my exhaust sistem is the same of the first diagram original, but now, not have the buttom catckback, the last owner put off it.

when I bought the car, have 38.000 kilometers, the car run well but sometimes the ecu light is on, (some times 1-4 block and sometimes 5-8 block), when the lights ecu are on, the car run well and strong too, but other times (little times) the car no run and not have any power, 100 hp only, is one toyota starlet :D :D haha indiferent if the lights ecu are on or off

when the last owner put off the catckback, not install 2...mmm (things haha) that I guess that go inside the exhaust, I think are temp sensor exhaust for the ecu, is possible? this is very important?

just now I´m working in the engine, (40.000 kiloemters service) I´m very slow but I had install one new belt original ferrari, but during the work I put pic´s in ferrarichat and some guys say me that my belt was out of date (I could not read the reference, and I not wise any at this) after I bought one new timing belt in ricambiamerica (very nice and fast!) the belt is made in nobember 2010, THANKS GUYS OF FERRARICHAT AND RICAMBI!! and i´m finish yet, tomorrow or the next day I will install the engine in the body, but I dont know to do with this sensors (or things)

I can insert in the exhaust, I have the tools for this, but I don´t know if is important, if is the cause of the car sometimes not have power and the most important cuestion, I don´t know where go this sensors, height, measures, site etc....

really, is difficult for me know what is my engine problem because I´m not know realize the auto diagnostic ecu errors, I´ve seen in internet as is done in US versions, but never seen in european versions and I have fear touch this without knowing

I can take some pic´s if you want

(sorry for my bad english, but I don´t know speak english, only basic school and internet)

thanks for your´s answers at everybody !!!!

HA! A "few"? Hardly. I remember the car.... quite tastefully done. Amette had to turn his head each time it drove by.

On a track car 20HP is quite noticeable Daniel. We would work for weeks for 3 HP in an SCCA "Spec" series and that would assure you could at least keep up with the rest of those 'stretching' rules. Formula Vee... 1.5HP was huge! Why do you think all the big name Challenge teams bribed the parts guys at FNA to allert them to parts orders for the early 355 plug valley gaskets.... there were a lot of "Cracked heads" replaced for "Free" when an early engine came out for work.

Its all about power to weight ratios so you are right, less weight (or power)=more effectiveness (faster).

I'm lucky, I own a 348GTC which is both lighter and more powerful (rumored to be 330BHP due to revised intake) and is a match for 355's on track days

Careful or someone might actually do what you suggest without reading it (this car) had no Cats. Fixing the problem would be the prudent method, that way no one gets hurt from white hot Cats next to a plastic bumper.

I assume the OP is speaking of the CEL's. Having the thermo probes removed will not trip the Slow Down lights.

Lyrm, is this a US spec car? What was the country of origin?

hi, thanks for your time !!

my car is original germany, mm, not original germany, is made italy and the first owner in germany, only 3 months in germany and after here in gran canaria island (spain)

I guess that is european version, (have only one EGR valve in each head)

and you have reason, I forget tell that my car not have the cat´s too (sorry)

I don´t know if the next is important or not

I don´t know too how to explain because my english is very very bad (sorry)

ok, I bought my car 3 years ago, in 3 years I run with this only 2.000 kilometers because :

-24 december 2007, I bought it in the next island, tenerife
-21 june 2008 (my birthday) one car no stop behind me and impact in my rear bumper :( :( :( in my birtday !!!! :( :( :(
after at this, the insurance compañy tried everything to not pay me, 7000 usd rear bumper, 2000 usd paint and body work and 7000 usd for my girldfriend and my for damages on our necks and vertebraes.....
9 months !! , and finally the insurance compañy pay me and repair my car...
after of this, I have in my cluster 40.150 kilometers and I need urgently the service, all this time the car is in the body work garaje, for this reason I could not realize the service before...
in march 2010 I start the sevice, with the illusion of driving my birthday but one new fail other time :(
I did not know that the timing belts have an expiration date, and somebody sell me one belt expired :( :( , thanks at ferrarichat !
after of this, I was very sad and decided to leave the car side....
recently I restarter again with one new timing belt :D
for all those reasons I never can driving my car very much :( I think that I´m one guy with very bad lucky :( :(

ok, well, the day that I probed my car (before bought it) the car run very very much and well, the next day I have payed it, and go to arrived my island, when I driving the first time in my island, the same day that I bought it, sharp the car no run , only very very slow, and the cluster looks a christmas tree :( :( :( just here I´m searching where stop, to call the last owner but just in this moment the christmas tree is off and the car run strong other time...

the few days the car is perfect, always perfect and sometimes the lights ecus are on, but with strong engine and fast, only 4-5 times in 2000 kilometers the car is slow

ok, the first night that I arrived to my house, very angry, I inpect the engine ( I never see one ferrari engine before) and frst I no see any rare, all plugs is conect and the hoses too but in a few day, inspecting more , I disconnected 2 plugs near of the coils and ignitors and inside the plug had tape closed any pin, this is the first days of having the car

after I will upload various pic´s for you and pap too :D :D

    thanks for your time !!!!
