Hello guys... I'm thinking about buying another car for the sole purpose of "FUN", meaning Road Races, Track Races and Drag Races. The cars I'm considering are: ZR1, Z06, M3, GT500, new Mustang 5.0 and 2012 GTR. I want to avoid the GTR and Z06 since I've had them in the past and want to try something new and different. It's very hard to choose the cars... Any opinions and ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!
My vote is for the new GT500 with aluminum block or even more fun might be the Boss 302 especially the Lagun Seca edition....Steve
I'm also looking for another fun car too. After considering several options. I decided to wait for the new M5 coming out this year. In my case, I need the extra space for the kid, golf clubs, etc..
Great choice. M5 is a great car as far as fast family sedan goes... My intentions are to be like a Formula-D professional drifters so that car needs to be "affordable to crash into a wall".
If it's for the track, how about a Lotus? I had a Exige for a short time. A bit too small for me, but a fun car.
Yeah, I once test drove the Elise and Exige S/C and I sort of liked it but I wish it had a little bit more power on a stretch...
I have a M3 and think it is the best every day car out there but wouldn't get it for the track.I also had a GTR and would not get another. The fords might be fun because you could realy personalize them. The new M5 would be fun but more of a every day car. A GT3 would be greet on the track or the ZR1 but a rough ride on the street, like the GTR. My 458 has a better ride than the GTR. I'm sure you feel the same.
I would get a ZR1, 2010, you can steal these cars currently. Definitely add Caravaggio seats with the carbon backs. Another 5k-6k but at current market prices for a 2010, you are basically adding them for nothing. Or you could go with the new Zo6 carbon and have Katech do the motor. All depends on what your budget is for your next toy?
Another vote for the GT500 or new Boss (or even a regular GT). They look nice (especially the GT500), sound nice, handle pretty well and are quick/fun to drive. Maintenance is cheap, too.
Covers three of the cars listed, maybe helpful... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfzqmpQQfOs&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
I would choose the Shelby with the track pack or boss. Haven't driven the boss but the shelby's are way better than even several years ago. And the ease of tuning is awesome. Even the standard GT with the track package(3.73s, brembos, 255 pirellis) is way better than even the 09s. The zr1 would be fun too...
If you want to drift, I'd suggest getting a Nissan 350Z/370Z and doing a few performance mods to it. Hella fun to drive, good looking car, great handling. stock specs on a 370Z are something like: 3400 lbs, 330HP/306TQ N/A motor. A Twin Turbo setup can get you anywhere from 450HP on low boost to 600hp+ on low 20's boost. But I believe that a new bottom end is required, which adds cost. all said and done, your prob looking at 10K+ in mods if your gonna turbo it, but considering the base cost of the car you may still come out ahead. I would also go this route because not only is it a great base car with great aftermarket support, but it can not only be given more power but its also easy to drop weight if desired. Theres a company that makes CF doors that drop 60 lbs EACH DOOR off the car. I can see getting a Z below the 3000 LB mark without much trouble, especially if you gave it the "Scuderia" treatment... Just a thought...
So, for now we get; GT500 Mustang GT 5.0 370Z GT-R GT3 ZR1 Z06 pretty much evened out. So, would that mean any of these cars would serve to do the job? ;-)
Well, if it is just for fun, as you say, and you want to race in in different situation, my pick would be an Ultima GTR with an LS7. That is, if you intend to win the races ;-)
