Seems like a troll to me... the OP hasn't once been back in the last 2 days to post. Obviously
doesn't care about the discussion. Sounds like a troll to me...

go for it if its important to you. When i was your age i used any remaining money to buy shares in MSFT, DELL, CPQ. Good luck.

you WANT a Porsche or fast car.
you NEED a reliable affordable car.
you SHOULD NOT be worrying about going fast and being cool, but thinking about your career, goals, and planning ahead.
a cool car is like taking on a dependent; not a good idea until you are older and more financially stable.

I started with a 944, cheap to buy, but most examples being sold are being sold for a reason!!! You can buy them cheap, but I agree, the cost ate my young income. The first one I had was decent, but a pickup ran into it hard and totaled it, I sadly replaced it without a long search for a good one - very expensive that 2nd one was. Eventually I put it down as a parts car, just wasn't worth the expense to make it right.

Right now, I've got a beaten up looking one that I bought with a blown motor, fixed it, and its fast, still got a rough body, but great car. I also have a beautiful non sun roof car that after the first year or two of owning, has been a very good car to me also. With two of them, I can solve the reliability issue - park one until I have time to wrench on it, and drive the other. This way it doesn't have to go into a shop($$$).

I'd say if I could skip my 2nd 944, owning a Porsche as a 18-25 wasn't too bad. Fact is though, as I grow older, I could be better off with a pickup truck, but I've invested time/money in sorting out what I got - so thats what I get to live with.

First car - get a beater, my first 944 had 200K on the clock when I got it, 215K when it was wrecked. Your first car is pretty likely to get torn up, fact of life. The insurance of the guy that hit it gave me $800 more for it than I had in it(including any repair/maintenance I'd done over the year I had it).
