I'll be attending the Grad Prix this year and I've heard the city is very festive during that weekend. I'd like to know what the locals recommend for bars, clubs and restaurants in the area. The more advice the better.

That depends if you are bringing your wife/girlfriend or not? Two completely different lists.

This is true but last year was just insane. There was actually a line-up to walk into that street!!! In fact the whole area was just crazy! It was a bit much but I guess it was because the race was brought back. Who knows? Another must is Little Italy which was a first for me...and the first time seeing a big shot celebrity - Bernardo :D

I doubt i'll go to the race this year. But I would recommend it to anyone. Not just race weekend but anytime.

Little Italy in Montreal is "Boulevard St. Laurent".....alot of bars/restaurants there too, if you are tired of the Crescent street nightmare.

And as usual, there will be the eternal argument; Gibby's ...or Queue Du Cheval !? ;)

No, I'm going with friends so give me the better (single) list. I hear the women in Montreal are beautiful.

Correct, Women in Montreal are beautiful.

    OK, Singles list.
Top of the list is Wanda's. Best strip club I've ever been too and they bring in quality for the F1 weekend. Usually the best on Friday night.(actually this works for the married guys as well. It will take some convincing, but at the end my wife got more lap dances than I did.)
Cresent north of St. Catherine is the best place on the Saturday Night. It is very packed, but well worth it. The night club on the top of the street on the west side with a blue sign (can't remember what it's called now), great lounge club.

If you're bringing your f-car, any cruise down St. Catherines is going to bring attention in a good way ;).

During the race day or qualifying day, the Budweiser area is always alot of fun on the island.

I think the place used to be called Extreme if its the place im thinking. Not sure if its the same name now.

My favourite is still Thursdays. Its a laid back pub atmosphere with a club downstairs. Huge place and lots of fun :)

Another classy spot is Newtown owned by Villeneuve (hence the name :D)

Downstairs is ok, but we've tried upstairs restaurant on two different occasions, VERY VERY disappointing. Would never eat there again!!

The bars/restaurants on Crescent St are purely "corporate" in my opinion...most are about the image and location without good food and service.

The real bars/restaurants can be found on St. Laurent...Many small stylish places, with fantastic food and vibe.

Crescent street (and its surroundings), lots of action, lots of babes, tons of parties, all the out-of-towners getting gouged.

Old Montreal, a little more historic, slightly more sedate crowd, all the out-of-towners getting gouged.

St-Laurent street (near Sherbrooke), same as Crescent, only here it's lots of locals getting gouged

Little Italy (St-Laurent north of Jean-Talon): mixed crowd, family atmosphere, some babes (but don't count on scoring), FCA will be present, here mostly locals and some tourists getting gouged.

BMW usually has its party on Peel Street and it's open to the public.

Mercedes hosts the F1 Gala at the Windsor Hotel, 1000$ per person. All the F1 royalty is there. Attendees are (usually) the jet setters...or their friends ;) cough. This is THE party!!! :D

Ferrari FNA and SPA parties are private and by invite only.

Hotels usually triple their rates and require a three night (minimum) stay.

Subway is a great way to get to the track, and to get around quickly.

For the record, Jacques Villeneuve sold the place. (too many folks shaking the till)

And yes, it's known more for drinks and ambiance; not its gastronomy.
