Much like the thread on "Making a Difference" i think this highly collectable book also deserves it's own thread. With now four different issues of this well known book i think it is time to do a "bookcount".

Palawan has published the following 4 editions:

1: The 968 regular blue cloth edition (1000 minus 32 that didn't pass qualitycontrol)
2: The 32 new released "missing numbers" in red buckram*
    3: The 100 leatherbound issues
    4: The 10 "Ferrari editions"

    * The 32 missing numbers are: 228 , 236 , 252 , 305 , 307 , 310 , 328 , 366 , 373 , 376 , 381 , 394 , 411 , 427 , 441 , 511 , 636 , 637 , 638 , 639 , 647 , 649 , 650 , 725 , 728 , 729 , 859 , 862 , 868 , 878 , 890 and 996

To start the list, hoping more will follow!

Great idea Maarten, I always like threads like this :)

I´m the proud owner of #081 of the leatherbound edition, would love to know where the other 99 copies are.

    Ciao,

PS - I've spotted what I think are a couple of errors. On p.35 the car is not a Dino, but a 250/275P. On p.252 the chassis is 0846? Anyone else like to comment?

Sorry for a bit late answer but i think you are spot on! Page 35 looks certainly not as a Dino. It just looks to "big" to me.

Page 252 is not "0844" as mentioned but most probably "0846".

There is one at the National Automotive History Collection in Detroit. I am working my way through it, a chapter at a time. What a wonderful book. I am kicking myself for not purchasing it in the day. I am curious as to why they have not come out with a second printing or edition.

The 100 leatherbound editions are far too big to read and put on any kind of regular shelf. Ridiculous really.

As far as i know the leatherbounds have the same size compared with the regular blue edition. Blue edition fits fine on my bookshelf... ;)

To read the book i use a bookstandard (my case it's from "Taschen"). I think this works fine. You don't damage the spine of the book etc.

@matt , Thank you for adding your number!
@George , it would be nice to add the number of the copy you're reading. Enjoy!

Just a quick question. Why three different publications of this book? Other than the language is there much difference or is this to complete a series? just one man's opinion tongascrew

This doublepage was not too carefully revised. On page 34 the picture of 312PB was taken at the Nurburgring 1000km of 1972, not 1973 (in the race of 1973 the last pitstop of Merzario was a bit more tense with the team, but this is another story ...).

In spite of some mistakes here and there, captions are well written and entertaining, overall the book a is masterpiece in any collection.

That's a fine library you have there. What's the book between Ferrari 1947-1997 and Piloti Che Gente - the one with nothing written on the spine.
