Here's my one room - nearly finished (a couple of years ago) - Panny 42" plasma with a Yamaha DTS Amp. Using Missions in surround with a JBL sub.

Now changed it to JBL Control 5 (studio monitors) all around - nicer sound!

My HiFi comprises of this really, with an ITunes media server ;)

My PROPER HiFi looks like this though :D

    and this one

    and this one too :D

I'm the good looking on on the LEFT!! :D

So after thsi lot, I kinda gave up chasing decent HiFi, as nothing comes close - acoustically sort the room out first, then worry about shiny toys :)

(kinda gives away what I do for a living :D)

    Dan :)

The little woman and I got a date with Wilson Audio to choose colors for our new Sophias. Good friend and founder, David Wilson will meet us to spec out our speakers! It will be fun to follow the mfg and painting process, we will share our experience!

Here is a link to the speakers... www.wilsonaudio.com/product_html/sophia_intro.html

Nice. Got a chance to meet him once at a local demo. Had to leave and missed hearing the speakers but was pretty impressed watching them set everything up!!

Just beginning to get into audio so my modern Onkyo TX 8522 is now paired with a recently found pair of fully-restored AR 2ax speakers. I'm quite happy. A cheap Yamaha turntable (but with a decent Grado cartridge) rounds things out.

A Tivoli Audio CD player may be next (overpriced, but I love the design). But mostly, since I work from home, I keep Radio Paradise playing in the background through my iPhone, so there's that "original source" issue digital music plays...

How many people actually have a dedicated listening room set up? I don't really have the space for it but have been thinking that I need to do something to get more out of my modest system. I have something of a "great room" type living room so that would make any type of serious room treatments pretty tough. I do think I can make some pretty good gains though by taking some pretty small steps.

I guess the first question is what is the best way to test the room, with a meter or with a software program and mike.

I'd be interested in hearing how others have tackled this one!
