    Flexibility/strategy after qualifying.

You set your roster of starters and benchers before qualifying and after qualifying you can shuffle your roster, i.e. move bench guys to starters...I think. I still can't find the rules on the website.

Doesn't help that they both start with "B"! :D

My mother was doing the jig yesterday. She was happy as hell. EJR seems to have it together this year too. I think he might win a few by the end of the season.

This new kid Trevor, what you guys think about that. A 20 Y/o man winning the 500. He has to feel like he's on top of the world. Congrats to him and to a long career in racing.

    EJR? Eddie Jordan Racing?

Trevor Bayne - he's OK, but you have to remember the Daytona 500 is unlike any other race, most people just inherit wins there, but still, you have to get yourself into POSITION to (inherit) a win at Daytona.

And, you guys are correct on the rules.

The bad thing is, the 'B' list of drivers really SUCKS, some of the 'A' list guys should be on the B list, but, it's the same for all of us.

If Bernie was running it you would have a nice fat lead!

No, I mean in terms of performance, Kenseth should be on the B list,
none of the ROUSH guys are on the B list.
I don't have a problem with the older guys that are still racing.

And, I know who you meant with EJR.

Please be advised: nascar racing is NOT like F1: in F1 you must start in the first 3 rows or you have little chance, nascar you just need to start.

2/3rds of the NASCAR grid has almost as little hope of winning as 8/10ths of an F1 grid

are you trying to say qualifying position doesn't matter, or the tired ol' NASCAR yarn "anyone can win"?

I agree with the former, not the latter ;)

I agree that starting position isn't that big of a deal in NASCAR. However, isn't fair to say that a strong qualifying effort by a particular marque (i.e. Ford in this case) is a good predictor of performance in the race? By no means a perfect science, but I do think it shows something generally.

    Congrats to Carl Edwards.

As for the fantasy league, my starters were 5th, 12th, 17th, & 23rd.

    4th...congrats.
