REALLY, REALLY Nice. Love It!
Design is design. I have 26 years experience as a professional designer. Plenty of awards. Been in plenty of magazines. It doesnt need to be automotive related to be able to point out the flaws in someones argument. Now if someone with a proper degree in automotive design wants to chime in to tell me Im wrong...then so be it. Until then , people with zero professional design experience should probably stick to what they know. Ive already outlined a basic case for why they arent the same. Others choose to hide their ignorance behind snarky responses and ad hominem attacks.
I TOTALLY agree with you, Anunakki! I mean, heck, look at Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, and yes, even the hallowed Ferrari; all these companies have their range of cars share a common familial styling identity within their specific brand. It is called brand identity! If Lamborghini released a car that took a different styling direction from the "Lamborghini wedge", I am sure we would hear criticism that the company was not true to their design philosophy of the past 40 years. What Lamborghini has done with the Aventador is to provide continuity in their design philosophy. I believe the only way that Lamborghini were to successfully release a car with a totally different design philosophy, was if they released a modern version of the Miura, like the one they released in concept form a few years ago. Of course, though, I could already see that if this was done, we would hear the critics say that the design was derivative and that Lamborghini lacked forward vision!
When there is the mention of DNA and design language by companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini, thats when you know that they arent going to venture too far from the designs that have been success for them. So, Im not too surprised about the result. I just find it interesting there should be critics to say any of these companies really need to gamble millions of dollars in investment to satisfy the critics who seek for something new. Of course, they are going to follow their company's design and formulas... If you look at the 458, there are elements of enzo, 360, BB, and others in the design... So, I dont see why Lamborghini should be any different..
Pull rank all you want but what is a similar silihoute and familial styling cues to you, is likeness to others. Also, the German automakers design philisophy is to give you the same wiener in different sizes.
It's nice, but I mean talk about not taking any chances. If this thing rolled past you at speed, even a car guy would have a hard time not thinking it was a Gallardo or Reventon if you ask me. The area from the front wheels to the back of the doors, including the mirrors, looks exactly like a Gallardos. I just wish it was something a little more daring/different.
Now this is what a proper Lambo flagship replacement should look like. It should be something new and something totally different. Image Unavailable, Please Login
you don't like it fine, but to keep dragging this on ....well, it won't do you any good, and won't convince anyone that your 'facts' are facts..
that you posted pics of those two cars says it all. seeing what you want to see, to the extreme. there were plenty of folks like you trashing on F-chat when the 599 came out. words like "viper" "corvette" "supra" were thrown all over the place. funny and sad.
