Just got in. Sorry I am late to the party. There is some name calling and some jabs that warrant a few bans here. However Ive decided just to send a warning. Any name calling or trolling will result in a vacation. Take your issues to PM's because no one cares to read this...
He asked for it BAN HIM and all haters as well . in the meantime ... Has anyone noticed these lines in it's hood ? http://www.davidkaiser.ch/fileadmin/gallery/Lamborghini_Aventador_geneva2011/Aventador_geneva2011_stmoritzer_05.jpg seems like it's hood has been divided x6 pretty cool uhu ? Guess how those lines look in the flesh when suddenly an Aventador appears in your rear view mirror
Just seems like robust discussion to me. Are we not, ultimately, all on the same team? And besides, by throwing this around in hearty fashion we'll probably find the truth somewhere in the middle and understand the car all the better. Polar opposites can help illuminate, even if they are sometimes ill informed (the untrained eye, maybe?), often accompanied by the sounds of heels digging in (we all do it) or bolstered by a sort of gamesmanship (pulling rank). If it is, indeed, 'design language' (a truly awful phrase!) that is driving this cookie cutter mode of operation across the car industry then the sooner the fad passes the better. Personally I tend to think 'design language' is the stuff of marketing departments and designers with more qualifications than inspiration - the kind of designers who are overly concerned with how sharp their suit looks in publicity photos and are way too keen to talk about their 'work' (art should remain unexplained - that's the point!). The truly talented designer will still find their brand's identity without having to lightly warm over some past glory or hit somewhere else in the range. Thankfully, Ferrari have yet to succumb. And back on point… Love the rear view. Those slim lights have the best of 'retro' about them. There's something about the lines that remind me of the early Countach show cars with the lovely pure lines that had yet to be corrupted by add on wheel arches and spoilers and the like. The sideways 'Y' devices are a little gimmicky and probably won't age well but that back end is a massive improvement over the rather chubby bottom of the Murciélago. Can't wait to see this car in the flesh. Oh, and how cool is this Countach pic?! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
... and WHO is the artist or designer author of work ? I miss those days when the artist's signature was used as a badge
true, but in a way it's both good and bad. one man's vision could be terrible, and others can tell him that. or the vision may have been striking and get dumbed down by the other team members. walking the tightrope all over again overall, i think this new lambo kicks major ass. i love the retro cues mixed in with fighter jet cues. love the interior as well. i want so badly to see this car in Monterey Blue, or Ferrari's Avio Blu (in pearlglow instead of metallico). if i had 400k, that's how i'd spec my car. i would also, have a custom set of BBS F1 single lug wheels made for it as well. remove the front wheel drive system, like the Lambo Murcie RGT, put 285 section tires up front, 345's out back. knock myself out laughing every minute every mile. just an awesome machine out of the box. with SOOOOO MUCH potential inbuilt for future iterations.
I really like the car. Sadly, after seeing the interior it's obvious that the 6 speed manual is gone for good.
it does look fantastic in that matte white doesn't it! i just don't like black wheels. to me, it just gets rid of the lower line of a cars design, drawing your eyes up from the road is messy with darker wheels. btw, how are you speccing your FF? i think a darker color would work nicely. perhaps Rosso Monza, Mugello, or even the Nuovo Rosso Scuderia... a metallic navy blu type would work great as well...choices choices
I'm so glad that someone else saw the similarities. Difference is Panteras are better.... they come in stick!!!!!!
Not sure about that. Generally, if something good comes via a committee it's despite them, not because of them. Put it this way, when you let a talented artist do his thing you get Raiders Of The Lost Arc. Put a committee in charge and you get Lara Croft, Tomb Raider.
You are obviously not in the film business. Raiders is well known to have been a giant compromise between the visions of Lucas, Spielberg and Kasdan. There was no singular vision at all. In fact none of them were completely happy with the compromises that were made. Read. http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2009/03/raiders-story-conference.html
Hell just put "APPLE", that probably more than anybody is responsible for the design. But it does look like too many people pushed and pulled on it.
I agree about stick being better! Would have loved it if one of the future iterations of the Aventador would be a "Balboni" edition, with RWD and a 7-speed three-pedal manual! Ah, one can only dream.... On the topic of the Pantera, according to Autoblog, a future modern version of the Pantera may be in the works: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/05/report-de-tomaso-pantera-will-return-in-2011/ Just imagine the possibility of a modern version of the classic Pantera shape with a tuned Ford-based powerplant, again like the classic Panteras (and since it would be Ford-based, one would not have to sell a kidney to maintain it!), and a three pedal manual! Where can I sign up for one??
Occasionally I am. In fact, later this week I start work on the VFX for a major release later in the year. Yes, I know about Raiders (good link, by the way). But we all know which film people are going to still be watching 50 years from now and which is the 'also ran'. And which one of the two has the whiff of the committee about its writing credits? Are you suggesting the committee is well known for its artistic achievements? I assume you've heard the one about the racehorse and the camel?
If you knew then why on earth would you use a film where it is well known to not be the work of a single vision to illustrate your point ? Weird to me. Maybe Jaws or Alien would be a better example. Both films that were singular visions where the director literally used an iron fist to get their way (and go millions over budget in the process). Anyway...this is totally off topic. Continue your analysis of the Aventador.
Because Jaws is not a movie about a tomb raiding archeaologist, and there isn't a man eating shark film which is designed by committee. Anyways, continue pulling rank and using design terminology to give an air of respectability to pure hogwash.
