Just getting started collecting handguns, but damn, is that an expensive hobby. Used to collect Stamps, US only. Still collect US coins, any odd or end that shows up in my change gets added to the collection. Books. Inherited quite a decent collection of mysteries and history books, mostly US history but some interesting Russian stuff too. Comic Books. But only Batman, and not the Detective comics, just the DC Batman comics. I have them all from about #50 to about 2 years ago when I ran out of enthusiasm, and have a #4 and another half dozen earlier than #15. I collect them, but I've read each one I buy. A lot of the guys I ran into along the way had never cracked the covers on most of comic books they owned. Hey, anyone want to swap a nice handgun or two for a few nice Batman comics? D
Well I used to collect guitars and guns, too expensive..sold them all then started collecting tin robots, they're graphic, colorful and just fun to look at. I keep them on my desk and rotate them with about about 80 various maker 1/64 Ferrari's. I keep my 1/18 Ferrari's at the studio. About once a month it takes an hour to dust them all. No kidding, updated and still going strong after 10 years but on it's second HD. The big Macs are at the studio.
When I was about 14 or 15 I was visiting with my cousin, that worked at the Boston Garden, after a Bruins game. When I mentioned that I wanted to run down to the pro shop to buy a jersey she told me she could do even better. She left for a few minutes and came back with the jersey Ray Bourque wore in that nights game. Several years later when I found out you could actually buy game worn jerseys I got hooked. I had a decent sized collection of 15 or so jerseys and a couple goalie masks. Some were Hall of Fame caliber players and some were from guys only a die hard fan would know. Eventually, I lost interest. Mostly because I now had a family and spending that kind of money on a used shirt wasn't really a priority (or an option) anymore. A couple years ago I decided to trade off most of my collection to acquire a couple high-end jerseys that were special to me. So, my collection now consists of The Ray Bourque jersey that started it all, Ray Bourque and Andy Moog's jerseys from the 1990 Stanley Cup Finals and a couple other rare jerseys. More of a quality over quantity approach. Here are a few pics... Scars. It seems like all of my hobbies end up giving me scars. Between burns from cooking, brass landing down my shirt while shooting and all kinds of crap happening while mountain biking I have a pretty good collection going.
Nice. I have my old, plastic, Jason style, goalie mask and my even older Cooper gloves. No jersey left but I still have the front patch from my Sabres jersey.
