I have a friend who has a California and his satellite radio seems to cut in and out frequently, even when traveling along long stretches of open highway with no obstructions. The dealer had informed him that there was a software upgrade and performed that upgrade, but the situation does not seem to be resolved. My friend believed that possibly it is antenna related, and the dealer informed him that the windshield is in fact the antenna?

Has anyone else been experiencing this issue or have any insight? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

i also have this issue with my california. i have had the antenna and the amplifier completely replaced which also did not help. an engineer has visited my home in a brand new demo california which also had the problem. he told me he will now have to write back to ferrari, to ask what they want to do about this.. whether they can relocate the antenna to another part of the car. i was told the antenna is fitted under the flat panel at the back of the car

That's what I heard too, that the rear trunk panel is where the antenna is located. Somehow within the panel...?

Let us know if the engineer comes back with some positive changes!

Here is where it lives.... I think in order to fix it they will have to do an external mount... Is anyone noticing a difference in the cutting out if the top is down rather than up? I have noticed this when driving a cali but it was with the top up...

I think there is a different possibility. I never had ANY trouble with mine until the last few months. I wonder if the satellite power has been reduced?

I have also had undue sensitivity with the sat radio cutting out whilst passing beneath random trees (not in a rain forrest). I have noticed that the sat radio cuts out when raising or lowering the top. It is indeed an annoyance but I like that the antenna is not a visible hump on the exterior. Life is all about sacrifice.

I can't see the XM hump on my Porsche when I am driving...but I sure could here it cut out (which it doesn't) except in tunnels, etc.

    Hope they can fix it.

I thought it was mounted in the front left of the dash but BEHIND the glass. So I thought the uv glass was interfering with the signal. It just needs to mounted free and clear. That's how it was on my porsche.

I have to say that I have the same sort of issues with normal radio in London.... I am dropping the car in to the dealer in a couple of weeks to have a few things checked and hopefully this can be solved.

Does anyone in the UK have problems with their radio and navigation as well when driving in town?

My Sat goes off when on the north side of tall buildings or under thick trees (and tunnels of course) or in a deep canyon (like Glenwood Canyon).

But when I was test driving the Cali the Sat went into a "Configuring Channels" mode for a few minutes when I was driving on the Interstate. No overpasses, no buildings, no trees. Never had any of my 3 other Sat radios do this.
