Have your local radiator shop recore it for 50 -100 bucks. I doubt you need a new one. Before you buy a new one, try to fix it first.

+ 348. and if its the plastic that's cracked Water Weld (by JB Weld) will work wonders and holds under pressure or you can have full blown custom, never leak or break racing radiator made for about $500.00 and never worry again. Don't sell under these conditions, you may hate yourself later. Just my .02

Ummm.. cool, I will be sending a list of parts I want first, cool? ;) Dibs on the tranny! Seriously, drink...heavily. Trust me, I never set foot in medical school, but have put myself in the hospital a few times. Here is what I recommend. mix with ginger ale, drink like cool-aid, say nighty nighty after third glass:

    Sorry Ernie... Good luck...

Is it possible to just drive it, and "not" keep fixing things? The clutch and trans you had to do... Some of the other stuff perhaps you could have ignored... (Hard to do, I know...)

Take the car to auction, sell it there...you should do quite well... AS IS sale, you know...

wow. i was getting ready to post the typical newbie question: "thinking of getting my first fcar - a 355 - what to look out for"and i saw your post. you sir have scared the crap out of me. i think i'll buy back the r8 i just sold. it had no soul but it seemed reliable enough.

and like that...the dream of the ferrari is gone. (i kid - sell me on making my worst investment ever...)

    Yeah bullsh!t he will.

How about when the headers melt themselves. Or how about when the liners on the cylinders go bad. Then there is the valve guide issues. Or what about the bypass valve. The 355's have the same cat ecu's that are notorious for going bad. Oh but wait, then we have the sticky melting parts inside the cabin. Or how about the door connectors wires breaking. And recently there was the first 355 I heard of with the dreaded gearbox oil pump bearing failure.

Yeah dude the 355's are no better.

Ferrari's build quality is utter crap in my opinion.

Oh, come on Ernie. Have you seen a typical American car today built in the same period?

The answer is NO because they all went to the scrap heap years ago from falling apart. That's what cars do... they fall apart. Rust eats away iron and steel, oxydation eats away aluminum and rubber -- stuff happpens.

Rolls Royces fall apart. Take a look at a typical BMW 3 series from 1995 and see what it looks like today. I can tell you -- it ain't pretty.

The car's 20 years old and you're complaining that they have "crap" quality because the radiator is leaking?

I can understand you're upset but let's have a bit of a reality check here.

    There are built like crap!

    5.

And, what does that prove? Toyota recalled 4 million cars just a month ago for a bad plastic part next to the gas pedal. So, is their build quality crap?

they aren't the most reliable....... but i "think" we all know that....

with that said, ernie i look up to you. I bought my first ferrari with blown motor and rebuilt it cheap. its people who get down in the trenches who make these cars possible. You are a contributor of techinical wisdon and I appreciate that. a car is a car. nuts and bolts. the only thing i can say is a radiator has no fault of its own. it leaks as its 20 years old. Good luck to you!

after 10 years and 30k it is certainly due, so not sure how I would react. :)

I did have to do a top end on the 355. ;)
